The Development & Engineering (D&E) Safety & Compliance department is responsible for supporting Global Product Safety & Compliance, Procedure Safety and Environmental Health & Safety at D&E. The D&E business function is responsible for process and product development within ASML and is mainly located in Veldhoven, Wilton and San Diego (US) and consists of approximately 11.000 employees. Within D&E Safety & Compliance, we facilitate & ensure that ASML is developing products that comply to regulations and customer requirements. To achieve this goal, the Compliance & Competence group defines design/safety requirements, supports the design teams and develops & maintains safety competences.
Your role is to successfully drive the Product Safety competence to a next level and coordinating the sub competences.

Role and responsibilities

As part of our drive to ‘future-proof’ our products, ASML aims to comply, wherever possible, with legislation on product safety. For an effective compliance we must challenge the compliance level and need towards authorities, legal department or customer account teams.
Your mission as our competence lead is toin our current designs, and actively distribute actions towards projects, designers and suppliers to phase these out. Understanding of mechanical and electrical designs, used materials, manufacturing processes, technical product documentation and supply chain management is a must. You will report and discuss with senior management the progress and effectiveness we are making in this area. Therefore a project-based way of working, understanding of business processes and business acumen is needed.

Key Activities

  • Competence lead D&E Product Safety
  • Align with Global Quality, System Engineering, Architects, etc, on safety in design
  • Coordinate the Product Safety sub competence
  • Develop D&E product safety competences by: Set regulatory / compliance requirements, Define compliance validation processes and Define reports
  • Networking within ASML, industry peers and authorities on legislation and implementation.
  • Reporting on compliance management
  • Participate/support compliance improvement initiatives
  • Challenge and discuss corporate policy against changing regulation.

Education and experience

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Proven knowledge of safety & compliance regulations
  • 5 to 10 years in high-tech product development environment.
  • Experience in people management is desirable.
  • Experience in project management

The Product Safety competence lead reports to the Group Lead of Compliance & Competencewithin the D&E Safety & Compliance department. You frequently interact with team architects, project leads, system engineering, global quality, other technical experts and cross sector business partners.
