Introduction to the job

In ASML Netherlands there are more than 160 known technical areas where multiple test setups and lab equipment are located. These equipment’s are used for validation, testing and the introduction of technologies. The operational safety expert is working in a high technically dynamic work environment where safety is a key driver in the daily operations. The operational safety expert is expected in this volatile environment to maintain safety as a priority.

Role and responsibilities

The Safety specialist provides expertise in operational safety and machine safety. They are responsible for enabling people to follow up on the safety for lab equipment and facilitates on regularly bases risk assessments and audits based on machine safety standards.

The Operational safety expert works jointly in a team with in total of 3 experts who are responsible for the occupational safety structure within D&E and research area of ASML. With the rapidly growing and fast changing landscape within ASML the safety expert needs to adapt continuously, work independently, have a good verbal communication in English and Dutch language. Project based working is an important part of the job.

Job Description

  • 30% shop floor operations, 30% (technical) consultancy, approx. 40% office & meetings.
  • Perform safety audits on a regulatory bases
  • Some project based work
  • Facilitates Risk assessments

Education and experience

  • Hoger Veiligheidskunde Safety (HVK) or Bachelor with technical background
  • Preferable knowledge of machine safety


  • Technical experience on machine safety
  • Knowledge of inspection & auditing techniques
  • Knowledge of risk assessment & classification techniques
  • Project work experience
