The EUV source team in San Diego operates in a fast-paced, uniquely innovative and challenging environment to create new-to-industry solutions with rapid productization to support an aggressive commercialization plan for the EUV technology within ASML.The Droplet Generation System Function is responsible for creating a steady stream of micron-scale droplets of molten tin injected into a vacuum vessel at a rate of tens of thousands per second, which generate EUV light when hit by infrared laser pulses.The functional team is fully responsible for development of the droplet generator, for integration and functional testing of the modules and sub-components, and for overall integration of the module within the system.

The complexity of the droplet generation requirements and the associated need for experimental studies and validation testing put exciting and challenging demands on the Droplet Generation Test Lead, who will be responsible for coordinating the activitiesteam of engineers and technicians operating a small tight-knit collaborative lab running multiple test benches efficiently and effectively. Ideal candidates will be incredibly organized, have a genuine interest in engineering administration, and have a strong desire to support the organization’s goals. The role will focus on managing complex engineering testing activities, including operation, maintenance and upgrades of diverse test benches delivering critical findings towards multiple project teams.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

  • Leada team of engineers and technicians in the Droplet Generation Test Lab.
  • Planand execute test operations on multiple test benches including oversightof data acquisition, measurement and control systems.Prioritize test plans and equipmentusage, maximizing the lab uptime to accelerate the learning.
  • Providecost and schedule estimates, assign resources, track schedule andperformance, ensure quality compliance and review/approve test plans forall activity within the directed lab.
  • Assuretest plans are written, reviewed and ready for execution in a timelymanner. This includes operational procedures, and training materials.
  • Workingcollaboratively with lab group members and the extended functional team tosolve problems and handle a wide variety of operational tasks.
  • Manageinventory of test equipment and spare parts, develop and execute equipmentmaintenance and upgrade plans, including coordinating with vendors forrepairs as needed.
  • Overseethe lab’s ongoing compliance with necessary regulations, protocols,policies, and safety inspections as required.
  • Workclosely with cross-functional groups (engineers and scientists, ,manufacturing personnel, upper management), crossing functional boundariesand building constructive and effective relationships throughout theorganization.
  • Deliverprogress reports and presentations to upper management and internal /external customers as a primary test lab spokesperson, present progressagainst plans in all required forums.

Education and experience

  • Requiresminimum of Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstratedhands-on experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Test and project management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in building technical lab spaces
  • Familiarity with test instrumentation including lasers and optical sensors, electronic test equipment, pressure and gas flow control.
