Position in the organization
The Data Analyst of Optics Lifetime reports to the group Optics Lifetime, and is contributing to multidisciplinary projects. The group’s mission is to protect, predict and validate the transmission of all EUV optical surfaces and coatings of the EUV system over lifetime.

  • We drive system design requirements to protect and clean EUV optical surfaces and coatings
  • We develop knowledge and models (scaling laws) to predict and prevent EUV (plasma) driven contamination and (coating) degradation mechanisms

Role and responsibilities

Job mission

Our EUV Optics Lifetime group aims to achieve optimal and reliable EUV system performance by predicting and securing EUV optics lifetime. A large number of EUV scanners are continuously used in production by our customers. By carefully looking at their parameters the team is extracting valuable learnings that help calibrate existing degradation models, identify and find solutions for hidden problemsand improve predictions for the new systems.
As an analyst, you are responsible for defining, monitoring and analyzing the key performance indicators relevant for optics lifetime of EUV scanners at customer sites. You will dive into the available data and seek to connect the performance to potential underlying root causes. This will eventually translate into possible design and software changes that help eliminate or mitigate degradation processes.
You will need to combine your creative problem-solving abilities with analytical thinking and an assertive attitude. This will drive development of innovative solutions that work around, break through and/or solve disturbances quickly, without impacting on projected performance budgets and delivery times. To achieve these solutions you will need to prioritize and set your own goals.

Job description (in main lines):

  • To drive optimization of the lifetime of EUV optics
  • Monitor, analyze and explore field performance data, collect learnings and support root cause investigations.
  • Connect with the architects and the project teams to learn how the hardware operates and stay in touch with the ongoing challenges.
  • Develop, maintain and grow relevant software toolboxes needed to perform data extraction and analysis.
  • To provide means and methods to diagnose and prevent EUV optics contamination and degradation (incl. specifying, designing and realizing dedicated test setups)
  • To deliver customized solutions that address specific customer usage problems in its own fab set-up and application,which could involve travel to our customers
  • Clearly communicate and align with relevant stake holders.

Education and experience

Required capabilities
Education level

  • MSc in (Physical) chemistry, Material Science or similar.


  • Data analytics and/or data science (preferably with experience in predictive models) ;
  • Experience with real-time databases. Experience and understanding of enterprise database structure and analysis tools is a plus
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Spotfire, Tableau etc.);
  • Demonstrable programming skills in Matlab and/or Python
  • A High level of analytical thinking and working, being able to efficiently collect, organize and analyze complex datasets and ensuring the right follow-ups are in place;
  • Experience in catalytic chemistry or plasma physicsis a strong plus Prior knowledge in optics or imaging is a benefit
