Introduction to the job

At ASML the S&SC Business Analytics team creates value from data, by generating insights and creating specifications for industrializing models on different topics. This helps prioritize business initiatives focusing on increasing quality, reducing cost, improving revenue and delivering additional value for our customers. As a Data Scientist at ASML it is your role to collect, analyze and translate our data into trusted business insights. You have excellent communication skills, know your statistics to evaluate models, learn new tools fast and likes to work in a challenging environment

Role and responsibilities

Develop data models and support the generation of business insights by using a combination of cross-sector data sources and applying leading analytics tools and technologies in order to enable optimization of ASML and customer value. Enable predictive and prescriptive capability using the data models. Be the partner in crime to connect business insights demand with IT solutions

Your main key elements are supporting in formulating problem statements and performing exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns. Develop functional prototypes and document these in technical specifications. The other key element is define industrialization requirements that support the deployment of the data and analytics models, including test based specifications towards the IT development teams (based on unit tests and metrics).
Your tasks will be:
- Generate, own and manage the S&SC data model as the one source of truth based on trusted and actual data and align with the data architects
- Apply leading analytics tools (e.g. Python, Alteryx, Spotfire) and technologies to develop in-depth understanding of structured and unstructured data on the topic at hand
- Use ETL tools to apply data cleansing and transformation techniques for prototypes and describe data quality metrics for industrialization
- Apply predictive models and evaluation criteria based on applicable metrics
- Generate business insights by translating data into visuals, reports and dashboards.
- Interact with technical and non-technical (cross-sector) stakeholders, and able to present and explain analytical problems, approach, results and recommendations
- Support in creating sprint planning by giving input and feedback

Education and experience

- Master, preferably on the cross-section of technology/engineering and business/economics (e.g. econometrics, industrial engineering, supply chain management, mathematics, physics, data science)
- 5-10 years’ experience (experienced professional) in working with data, techniques, analysis tools and statistics

Hard skills
- Affinity with data and business intelligence platforms, data analysis and analytics tools and techniques
- Ability to apply the latest analysis techniques
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, SQL, R, Python, etc.)
- Knowledge of data modelling, cleansing and transformation
- Knowledge/understanding of (complex) Supply Chain processes, preferably in a high tech, low volume environment.
- Ability to train and evaluate predictive and prescriptive models on metrics and to transfer this to industrialization requirements (e.g. model drift, active learning)
Soft skills
- Strong capability for problem solving, thinks creative, out of the box

- Able to work effective and constructive in multidisciplinary teams

- Hands-on experience with Alteryx, Spotfire, Python (including ML libraries and Spark), R, SAP Analytics Cloud
- Experience with ML Ops and Agile (SCRUM)
- Ability to deploy models (e.g. cloud deployment)
- Understanding of ASML business ecosystem
