Role and responsibilities

As SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) Mechanical Layout architect, your mission is to specify, design, realize and qualify mechanical and safety infrastructure of SEM function for our ebeam inspection system.
This job also serves as major interface towards system mechanical infrastructure.
This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Work as Volume Controller for SEM function, work with system mechanical layout architect to settle layout and volume design for SEM.
To deliver Water, Gas and other environment control functionalities for SEM function.
To deliver Vacuum solution, including valve control sequence, pump and controller, venting process, etc.
Together with SEM Architect, come up with EMI (Electromagnetic interference) solution to ensure SEM performance.
To lead safety (mechanical, thermal, radiation, etc.) review and discussion for SEM function, also serves as main contact point with product safety stakeholders.
Deliver functional specification (EPS), test specification (TPS), design specification (EDS), qualification document (TAR) and other documents for SEM Mechanical Layout related functionalities.
Support integration and related trouble shooting activities of SEM function.
Provide input for SEM Mechanical Layout design roadmap, including Volume, Environment Control, Vacuum, EMI, Safety, Service, Diagnostics, etc.
Support SEM TestRig design, implementation, integration and verification.
Other related duties to enable SEM mechanical layout functionality and performance, including travel within ASML or to customer site.

Education and experience

Master’s degree and up in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of relevant work experience or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of relevant work experience.

Minimum 2 years of mechanical or environment control hands-on design experience.
Experience as architect with multi-disciplinary system design is strongly preferred.
Has experience with general mechanical engineering principles and mechanical development methods and processes.
Has knowledge or experience on environment control design, including Cooling Water and Gas supply, Manifold, Solenoid, PLC, etc.
Prefer has knowledge on standards for mechanical safety (IEC, SEMI, etc).
Hands on experience on multi-disciplinary system integration and trouble shooting is a plus.
Knowledge/hands-on experience with software/technical tools (i.e. NX, Solidworks or similar mechanical design tool, Visio or similar diagram tool, etc.)
Ansys or similar flow simulation tool is a plus.
System modeling, simulation (Simulink or similar) experience is a plus.

The environment in cleanroom generally is moderate in temperature with moderate to high noise level.
Occasionally may need to work a compressed work week schedule – twelve-hour long shift and rotating from three to four days a week.
