Introduction to the job

As an Electron Optics Engineer, you mission is to overcome the daunting technical challenges in the precision metrology and high-throughput inspection of nanometer-level semiconductor structures. You will be part of a core design team responsible for the conceptual design and simulation of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) module in the cutting-edge e-beam metrology and inspection systems from ASML-HMI. We offer a training series and plenty of project-based learning opportunities to help you ramp-up in the field of electron optics and SEM design.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

- Lead the conceptual design of the electron optics system in scanning electron microscope.
- Conduct performance evaluation and optimization of electron optics systems design by using commercial/in-house simulation packages.
- Overcome technical bottlenecks by proposing novel design concepts.
- Propose and set requirements for control methods for electron optical components through simulation.
- Evaluate electronic and mechanical tolerance of electron optics system and define specifications.
- Support system integration and new application development.
- Support experimental measurement and data analysis of electron optics performance, including resolution, beam current, distortion, etc.
- Provide input to system specification, system error budget and interfaces.

Education and experience

Master’s degree in physics, electron optics, applied physics or engineering with 2 years of related industrial experience is minimum.
PhD degree in physics, electron optics, applied physics or engineering is preferred.

- Prefer to have knowledge of charged particle optics and electron source theory.
- Prefer to have hands-on experience in 3D electrostatic and magnetic system simulation tools such as COMSOL.
- Prefer to have hands-on experience in electron optics simulation tools.
- Prefer to have hands-on experience in Python or Matlab.
- Prefer to have hands-on experience in one or more of the following: scanning electron microscopy, electron detector, e-beam metrology and inspection systems, vacuum systems, high voltage system.

- Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
