Role and responsibilities
As sub function architect for dry wafer tables you drive the development of dry wafer tables. You will be a key player in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment and responsible for development of a particular dry wafer table type within the larger dry wafer table portfolio.
Direct and perform analysis of customer requirements and analysis of performance of existing wafer table designs, drawing up specifications, initiating and conducting feasibility studies, design, and realization and integration. During all these steps you will be cooperating with multiple disciplines, customers and suppliers, and interacting with various stakeholders. The function is part of the WT IBP&S project, and will be supervised and supported by the IBP&S project architect.
The main responsibilities of a wafer table sub function architect consist of;
- Requirements engineering: translate system requirements into wafer table requirements
- Generate and verify solutions: generate and define solutions that realize the specified requirements on both performance and industrialization aspects.
- You drive verification of the proposed solutions by testing and modelling.
Interfacing with customers and suppliers: you closely interact with wafer table manufacturers and our customers to secure industrialization and performance. - Communication and stakeholder management: you present technical progress in a clear way to team and stakeholders. You drive consensus for technical decisions.
- Risk management: You take care of pro-active risk management. You focus on mitigation of the most important risks and escalate to management when needed.
- Issue solving: assist in analyzing and solving complex wafer table related issues in the DUV scanners at ASML and at our suppliers in a structured way
Education and experience
- Master’s Degree, or PhD in an engineering or technical discipline (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Electronics or Chemistry)
- 5+ year experience as design engineer or analyst in an industrial environment with high tech products and complex production processes in multi-disciplinary projects.
- Experience as technical architect is considered a plus

Within ASML the wafer table development group is responsible to develop and deliver qualified wafer tables which clamp the wafer onto the wafer stage of DUV scanners. Wafer tables are crucial to make lithography happen against the ever demanding specs on overlay, focus, imaging and throughput while ensuring high availability. The holder of this position works within multidisciplinary projects and reports to the Group lead Wafer Table Development NPI.
