ASML has developed metrology equipment (YieldStar) to integrate with our existing lithography equipment and control loops to enhance the manufacturing capabilities. Those control loops run on our proprietary software on a Virtual Computing Platform (VCP).

Are you up for the challenge to be the lead VCP/LCP (Virtual Computing Platform) equipment engineer towards the 1st US-based advanced-node HVM fab of one of our Asian customers? This high-profile job definitely enables you to enhance your career within ASML while getting to know a different customer. I’m looking for an ASML software engineer that is experienced in automation and software concepts in the high capital industry, preferably semiconductor and lithography/metrology.

You will be part of the technical core team. Together with your colleagues on CS Service Engineering you work in close collaboration with the CS Apps team. You play a crucial role in the setup of the VCP/LCP platform transfer from Taiwan to Arizona. Having a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset during the early engagement phase will make you, ASML, and our customer successful.

The holder of this position will be based in ASML Phoenix (AZ, USA), reporting directly to the on-site DUV manager, and having a strong dotted line to the on-site CS Apps manager. You’ll have peers in other sites that work in a similar position and will serve as your reference and knowledge resource.

Role and responsibilities

As an ASML CS Software VCP/LCP engineer you are responsible for introduction, maintenance, upgrade, and overall support of the VCP/LCP and its’ associated control loops and diagnostics that run on the platform. You work with closely with applications to further customer testing, and control loop qualification. You provide technical support, and are responsible for the necessary transfer of knowledge to the customer on this platform.

You are a highly technical positioned engineer that links diagnostics and solutions from GSC/D&E directly back to the customer and 1st line team. You are relentless in driving the success of the ASML solutions during this new fab startup and setup of high volume manufacturing in US. Initially, the focus will be on installs and establishing platform node implementation and configuration. As lead VCP SW engineer you own the operational project execution of the install schedule. Quickly, this will shift to an HVM operation where focus is on ensuring that the customer can keep running their scanner, metrology, and control loop process reliably 24x7. Driven by a determination to never give up, you’ll troubleshoot issues based on your technical intimate relation with your customer counterpart, and train and rely on the equipment shift and external ‘Managed Operations’ team to address standard VCP issues.

You collaborate seamlessly as a OneTeam with the local equipment engineers, business line stakeholders, senior staff and account team, as well as counterparts at ASML Taiwan and of course customer stakeholders. This is a position that will require strong ownership, care for quality, a strong customer intimacy and communication. You collaborate with applications and equipment peers in the region and across the globe to develop and implement best practices with your colleagues, and strive for effectiveness and efficiency. You have a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset during the early engagement phase.

Job Scope:

  • Represents ASML at the customer’s site in a professional way.
  • Takes responsibility for technical support of system performance.
  • Performs qualification of software functionality & maintain computing system of VCP/LCP.
  • Provides technical support on integration of systems, in order to minimize impact on production output.
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers on technical issues and improvement proposal.
  • Documents and transfers knowledge and trains colleagues on existing and newly introduced products.
  • Takes responsibility for implementing customer demands in new and existing products and install base.
  • Operate as the escalation owner for all complex issues on VCP/LCP.
  • Determine root cause, create/execute action plans & escalate to supporting resources when necessary.
  • Prepares written technical reports such as escalations updates and installation progress to internal and external.
  • Perform administrative and coordination duties, including procedure changes, pass-downs, work orders, field service and monthly reports.

Education and experience

  • BSc in Computer Science & Software Engineering, or a similar engineering degree/equivalent experience.
  • 1~5 years of relevant experience preferred (semiconductor industry is preferred) with focus on software/server systems.
  • Experience in customer contact/customer service role, preferably in product ramp or high volume manufacturing.
  • Solid written and spoken English language skills, Mandarin, as optional, additional, language.
  • Knowledge of Linux environment (Red Hat or Centos, Ubuntu).
  • Knowledge of VMware environment (cloud computing, blade server, VMs).
  • Script language (Shell/Perl/Python/PHP/BASH).
  • Understanding Factory automation (XML, HTTP, EDI, SECS communication).
  • Preferred experience in Cloud Applications or Development and/or Data Centers, or work experience in ERP, MES or alike.
  • Experience or ambition in owning technical workstream/project management.
  • Demonstrated experience using computer applications, including data analysis tools and MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
