The Competence Engineer – Metrology is part of the Customer Support department. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and continuous improvement of ASML systems at customer locations and supporting the customers in the use of these systems in their production process. Scanner Metrology is a conceptual competence, it does not own and oversees hardware but it requires an overview of the whole system and a high level of abstraction. This position might require traveling internationally (up to 20%) to provide support to our (internal) customers.

Role and responsibilities

A role as Competence Engineer – Metrology at ASML in the Netherlands consists a diversity of tasks and responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis of structural issues of the systems at our customers.
  • Identify structural improvements to the design of ASML products, service mix and estimate their impact on Customer Support department.
  • Transfer and maintain all relevant knowledge to the CS field engineers in the form of documentation, training and Knowledge Transfer.
  • Facilitate and maintain a global competency network.
  • Run performance improvement projects in cooperation with customers with significant business impact and translate these results into requirements for ASML’s development department.Represent CS during the design phase of new designs and make sure the requirements for the field are implemented in the design.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor or Master degree in a technical science (Physics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electronics, Systems Control, Robotics, Process technology).
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience. Preferably with a strong customer and/or production focus.
  • Broad knowledge of metrology, mechatronics and control theory.
  • Knowledge of ASML equipment on a specialized technical level is a pre.
