Our objective is to install, upgrade, and relocate leading edge lithography systems safely, at the customer site, within specifications, on time, with quality, and exceeding the customer’s expectations.

As a Project Manager you are responsible for the project management of DUV upgrades, installations, and relocations (UIR) at assigned customer site(s). In this role, you will be the management support contact for all UIR activities at your assigned customer(s). This role is responsible to build strategic relationships based on a foundation of trust and delivering on your project plan(s). Job responsibilities include creation and ownership of project/ramp plans, internal/external stakeholder alignment, and delivering to commitments pertaining to safety, quality, cycle time, predictability, and cost. Your manpower will include some fixed and variable resources from our US DUV UIR team, CS Factory, local office, CS US team and other support organizations as required. Project Manager is required to foster teamwork ensuring that rotational team is engaged with transparent communications and supported as necessary from preparation through wrap up of all UIR activities to enable delivery of successful results. Role will require ability to shape and drive improvements as necessary to push through challenges and inefficiencies to deliver results.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

  • Drive Safety and quality across the operation.
  • Formulate, organize, coordinate, and monitor inter-connected projects.
  • Define and execute strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead and evaluate project leaders and other staff.
  • Develop and control deadlines, budgets, and activities.
  • Manage risk.
  • Assume responsibility for the program’s assigned resources and suppliers.
  • Assess program performance and report to Senior Management.
  • Assist in resolving technical escalation associated with the project.
  • Drive continuous improvement.

You will manage projects and relevant resources through multiple phases of a project inclusive of preparation, execution, and wrap up. Below is a sample of key deliverables that require consistency and standardization across all phases of every project that Project Mgr is responsible:

1) Preparation phase:

  • Ensure customer safety protocols are understood & deployed in project plan.
  • Ensure all manpower, materials, and procedures are secured in time to prevent ANY delay.
  • Oversight to ensure ASML/customers are in compliance with install requirements and customer site variability requirements.
  • Ensure prep, execution, and wrap up team are fully informed and engaged throughout entirety of project(s).
  • Manage the installation of facilities and ASML pre facility works at the customer site.
  • Update necessary NL/local databases and templates to ensure cycle time & cost goals are populated in prep phase.

2) Execution phase:

Operational planning:

  • Provide project planning with pre-defined milestone updates to Sr Management & customer stakeholders.
  • Convey key milestones to team members (ASML & 3rd party) and coordinate activities to achieve on-time completion.
  • Be the ambassador of the Customer Support UIR department.

Customer Interface:

  • Interface with customer providing installation updates, escalation management, and coordinate customer related activities with project team.
  • Effectively communicate complex installation and technical details to customers.

Escalation management:

  • Ensure the agreed escalation process is executed.
  • Take the lead in escalations that are beyond control of coordinators and team leads, and implement methods and actions that prevent them from recurring.
  • Ensure that follow-up actions on reported issues and are on track by partnering with necessary stakeholders.

Continuous improvement:

  • Provide feedback during and at the end of the installation that will enhance future installations, taking costs and cycle time into account.

Provide performance feedback to line management:

  • Provide feedback on team and individual performance as necessary, and at minimum, at completion of project.

3) Wrap up phase:

  • Ensure materials are returned in compliance within KPI commitments.
  • Ensure all service administration is completed timely and within KPI commitments.
  • Ensure quality and timely transfer handshake to local team (internal customer).
  • Project close out includes capturing lessons learned and ensuring follow up for continuous improvement.

In this position you report to the US CS DUV Upgrades, Installations, and Relocations (UIR) Manager.

Education and experience

  • BS degree in Engineering, Metrology, Mathematics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics, or (Applied) Physics, or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from preparation through wrap up with solid understanding and proven experience utilizing best known project management methods and fundamentals.
  • Aptitude, and knowledge of electronics, semiconductor processes, and relevant software. Knowledge of safety procedures required.
  • Experience in a challenging environment with high tech products and complex processes.
  • At least 5-10 years’ work experience as a Project Leader, Operational Manager, or Project Manager in semiconductor environment.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor lithography preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to digest technical details into information that can be used to make business decisions, communicate with customers, and influence others.
  • Keep a global overview of ongoing strategic issues.
  • Strong technical background and drive towards solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent English language skills in speech and writing.
  • Must be able to create project plans and work with a wide array of stakeholders to deliver success.
  • Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and project planning software.
  • Must be able to present in a clear and concise manner to convey planning, issue resolution, and wrap up summaries to a wide array of stakeholders including senior management internal and external.
