Introduction to the job

Within ASML the department ACE YieldStar Engineering is responsible for engineering aspects of the YieldStar product line. This includes Development, Production, Installed base support, Supply Chain support, Repairs, System refurbishment support and customer specials. Mechatronics is concerned with high speed and precise moving parts in the ASML machines, in particular wafer handling, positioning and alignment. The main focus is on cost effective execution and life cycle management. The department’s competences will cover the whole technical spectrum of the metrology equipment: control, dynamics, mechatronics, position measurement systems, imaging applications, overlay applications, focus applications, productivity, software, optics and illumination.

Role and responsibilities

To contribute to the development of the YieldStar product and to contribute to the precision mechatronic aspects related to manufacturing of YiledStar systems and trouble shooting, resulting in quick fixes and structural solutions.
Develop and implement design improvements in close cooperation within the multidisciplinary team.
Support the Manufacturing and Customer Support organization to meet the output and quality requirements.
The function to be filled in ACE (ASML Taiwan, Linkou)
During the knowledge transfer phase quite some alignment/ knowledge transfer with ASML Headquarters (Netherlands) is expected. Candidate must be able to spend part of a 12 month period travelling back and forth between Taiwan and the Netherlands. High flexibility is a must.
•Inventing construction principles and joint building strategies for the precise positioning of complex dynamic mechanical systems.
•Carrying out design analyses into machinery and mechanical (semi-) systems.
•Fills a general advisory position in the field of precision engineering and is therefore responsible for the correct application of precision engineering principles when developing metrology systems.
•Specifies, re-design and optimize all the precision mechatronic aspects of the YieldStar modules in order to meet the system performance.
•Designs and realizes test equipment and is responsible for ensuring that prototypes are built and tests are carried out.
•Is responsible for the technical product documentation in order to unambiguously explain the design to suppliers.
•Contribute to the YieldStar master plan by making a realistic work break down.
•Support YieldStar manufacturing and customer support organization with high end troubleshooting
•Optimizing quality of the mechatronic aspects of the YieldStar modules.

Education and experience

University degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
> 5 years experience with precision mechanical motion stage design, automatic machine design, servo motion control experience, and repairs/refurbishments of multi-disciplinary equipment like measurement tools, positioning tools, assemblies etc. are an advantage.
Experience in Quality & Efficiency improvement projects in both the production and development environment are an advantage.
Experience in integration of precision mechanical motion stage with interferometer feedback system
