As ASML is growing, we see that the product portfolio is increasing rapidly. At the same time focus on cost becomes more relevant to keep our products competitive. Next to that ASML and its supply chain is focusing on re-use & sustainability to reduce our CO2 footprint.

ASML packaging is in the middle of these trends; it is required to ship our highly complex machines, but at the same time we want it to be cheap and have no impact on the environment. From board-level to cross-sector work teams; everybody has an opinion on what do with our packaging.

To give direction to these developments, ASML created a high-level packaging strategy, that describes our packaging targets for the coming years. This is done cross-sector with people from D&E, Logistics, Sourcing, Sustainability, Factory and ASML business management.

To drive the overall packaging strategy and make sure we reach our cross-sector targets, we are looking for a Program Manager Packaging.

Role and responsibilities

The Program Manager Packaging (based in D&E) is responsible for co-creating, adjusting and executing the ASML packaging strategy in close alignment with all stakeholders. The stakeholder landscape includes (management from) all ASML sectors (D&E, Sourcing and Supply Chain, Factory, Re-use and business lines) and packaging suppliers. The Program Manager Packaging needs to build and maintain a sustainable network and continuously analyzes the business needs to ensure the strategy and the running workstreams match to this.

The Program Manager Packaging leads a cross-sector product team that executes the different workstreams from the packaging strategy and reports (project line) to the ASML cross-sector packaging steering committee. The Program Manager Packaging reports (hierarchy) to the Department Manager D&E Mechanical Development – Handling & Transport Technology.

As a Program Manager Packaging you will be responsible for translating the ASML packaging targets to specific workstreams and execute them. The following is part of your daily tasks:

  • Align with stakeholders on all levels
  • Lead a multidisciplinary project team of 5-8 FTE (depending on workstreams you define)
  • Organize ideation workshops to refine the packaging strategy
  • Canalize the many ideas and initiatives on packaging within ASML
  • Continuously monitor if project results match with the strategy & objectives
  • Align with suppliers to ensure their buy in
  • Drive all initiatives / workstreams with the packaging program scope, like for example;
  • standardization of packaging & transport tool solutions
  • research and introduction of sustainable new materials
  • simplifying the development process in alignment with suppliers
  • value chain analysis: 1 piece packaging vs bulk packaging

  • Report out on achievements to higher management

Education and experience

Master in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical master degree, or,

Master in Supply Chain Management with clear affinity to technology.

  • Managing complex stakeholder environments on all levels.
  • Multiple years of Project Management or Program Management (leading multiple projects)
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams and drive towards results
  • Working in a technical development environment – preferably affinity with packaging
  • Developing roadmaps, product portfolio’s and strategy’s
  • Preferably understands ASML’s organization and sectors

The D&E Handling & Transport Technology (HTT) department is part of the Mechanical Development cluster (MDEV) in ASML. HTT is responsible for the specification, definition, realization, qualification and industrialization of all handling, transport & lifting tools and special packaging for ASML machines. You will be reporting to the Department Manager D&E Mechanical Development – Handling & Transport Technology.
