ASML's Legal & Compliance Department is responsible for defining and implementing ASML’s worldwide legal & compliance strategy and bears the responsibility for all ASML entities worldwide to comply with international laws and regulations, in order to minimize legal risks and to maximize legal and commercial opportunities. The Legal & Compliance Department consists of a team of highly empowered, business oriented lawyers and compliance professionals, supported by paralegals and assistants, working across the globe and based in Europe, US and Asia.
The Legal & Compliance Department is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel ESG.
Role and responsibilities
The Senior Legal Counsel ESG will be the trusted business partner providing pro-active support to the leadership of ASML’s ESG department. In this role you will be responsible for
·Monitoring legislative and governance developments in the area of ESG, including corporate governance, assessing the impact of those developments for ASML and ensure implementation of changes to ASML’s policies and procedures where required, in close collaboration with internal stakeholders
·Provide subject matter expertise on the implementation of current and developing ESG disclosure frameworks and regulations, including the CSRD, EU Taxonomy
·Contribute to the development and implementation of the ESG strategy together with the ESG Leadership Team
·Engage with stakeholders to support the improvement of ESG performance and risk management
·Directing both national and international law firms that support the Legal Department in the area of ESG
Education and experience
·An academic law degree 10+ years of relevant experience in an international legal/business environment, either as in-house legal counsel or within a law firm
·Strong personal affinity with and interest in ESG
·Understanding of the stakeholder dynamics that apply to a company like ASML
·Proven track record with respect to corporate sustainability
·Familiarity with other ESG concepts such as supply chain due diligence, anti-bribery, conflict minerals, diversity and with ESG disclosure and reporting including NFRD, CSRD, EU Taxonomy
·Experience with corporate governance of listed companies and evolving governance standards
·Appreciation of legal and litigation risks in relation to ESG
