The Quality inspection technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and sampling materials, parts, or products for defects or deviations. The technician will segregate defective materials and summarize rejection reports.Ultimately the Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring only conforming material is released to internal and external customers.

Role and responsibilities

  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • May require travel (specify domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs – specify percentage of travel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Can observe and respond to people and situations and interact with others encountered in the course of work.
  • Can learn and apply new information or skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency and professionalism.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Can we be more specific:Must be willing to lift up to X pounds, pull Y pounds at least once a day and spend the majority of time (greater than 90% less break time) on the floor working on tool sets, walking three to five miles a day, and/or standing/sitting for nine hours.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Can work under deadlines.
  • The environment generally is moderate in temperature with moderate to high noise level.

Education & experience

  • Minimum qualifications – the hired candidate must possess all of the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for the position including:
  • High School or GED required
  • Minimum 2 of Years of relevant experience
  • Testing of electronic components
  • Inspection of Precision Machined Components
  • Inspection of Sheet Metal Components
  • Use of Tools such as Oscilloscope, Function Generator, Computer based test equipment, Force Gauge, Thread Gauge, Calipers, DVM, Height Gauge, Optical Comparator.
  • Documenting First Article Inspections
  • Ability to interpret Engineering drawings and schematics, and Bill of Materials
  • Familiar with ESD handling, and protocols

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with an advanced understanding of customer relationship building.
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic e-mail systems.
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team to meet technical and schedule requirements.
  • Experience with automated test equipment systems.
