Introduction to the job

ASML is seeking an experienced Technical Writer. TheTechnical Writer will work with product teams to develop and improve product service documentation. The Technical Writer primary objectives will be to write and develop easy-to-understand documentation in simplified technical English. They will also conduct quality review, provide documentation technical support, and training to engineers writing product documentation.

The role requires a quick learner to master the two sets of authoring tools and associated content management systems (CMS). ASML prefers solid experience writing and enforcing style conformity with technical subject matter over knowledge of the specific tools.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

  • Researches, documents and develops detailed operator, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, checklists, technical specifications, alert bulletins, training materials and other procedures and reports.
  • Collects and accumulates appropriate technical information through researching and analyzing technical data and publications, engineering drawings, test procedures, design specifications/documentation, software description documents, engineering documents and by interviewing technical experts.
  • Ensures documents are developed in accordance with the requested specifications and contractual requirements, including development of any necessary illustrations, photographs, or other graphic representations.
  • Ensures final materials clearly and effectively communicate the technical information and data.
  • Coordinates technical document reviews and approval signatures, which may include appropriate security classification prior to document distribution.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 5+ years' experience technical writing and documentation management
  • Some knowledge of DITA concepts, Oxygen XML Author (with SDL CMS), or PTC Arbortext Editor (with Indicenter CMS) helpful but not necessary.
  • Ability to write easy-to-understand high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Must have great attention to detail, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with multiple product teams and balance loads and schedules.
