Introduction to the job

Designs and develops technical training curriculum for the department's customer base. Ensures that training courses address all levels of customers in the use of company products/services. Designs course outlines, gathering supporting technical documentation and develops course material and Instructor Guides. Interfaces with engineering, NPI and other cross-functional groups to develop specifications for course content. Creates outlines, objectives, schedules and storyboards as part of the development process.Creates, updates, edits and publishes videos, computer based training and other material to the LMS, streaming site and Instructor support site.

Role and responsibilities

Tasks include developing curriculum for field service engineers on highly technical laser systems and independently designs and develops training curriculum for classroom, teleconference, online mixed mediaand CBT delivery.

Development tasks include:

  • Knowledge of instructional system design such as ADDIE and SAM
  • Developing mixed media distant learning
  • Participating in needs analysis studies to determine training requirements
  • Design courses with terminal and enabling objectives, sequencing, scheduling and delivery methods
  • Conduct technical reviews and validations of processes, procedures and curriculum
  • Support and develop course material:instructor guides, student guides, course materials, multi-media support material, interactive and computer based training, etc.
  • Prepare design concepts, flow diagrams and storyboards
  • Create technical source material, screen captures and audio/video recordings
  • Create implementation strategy for course
  • Create evaluation strategy for level 1 and level 3 surveys
  • Work with SMEs to transfer input towards designing and developing training for effective flow and effective delivery
  • Select, create or develop teaching aids such as simulators, static displays or media to improve comprehension

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, multi-media or related field
  • 0-3 Years of experience in development projects with a strong desire to enhance and improve learning

Required Experience:

  • Experience in curriculum design and delivery, e-learning, educational writing, and/or creating learning tools for adult learners from diverse backgrounds(Preferably hands-on experience in designing and implementing digital learning solutions)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience writing engaging copy and creating compelling visual content with the objective of teaching and/or informing adult learners
  • Demonstrated familiarity with a wide variety of instructional design models, best practices and adult learning theory/principles. (ADDIE)
  • Proven understanding of tools for teaching, including emerging technologies and online learning tools. (Articulate 360, Adobe Audition, Camtasia, MS Stream)

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Strong project management skills, including organization, time management, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize deliverables under tight deadlines, and ability to synthesize and balance input from diverse stakeholders
  • Experience with Learning Management Software (LMS) preferred
  • Experience with video production and editing and professional video editing software
