Introduction to the job

Senior Material Planner is responsible for ensuring the effective flow of production materials, manage inventory levels, reduce waste, and balance output.Manages the supply requirements of material through production.Analyzes and executes MRP planned supply messages to ensure manufacturing material requirements are met in a required manner.

Role and responsibilities

  • Manages the supply requirements of material through purchasing and logistics supplier managers.Will set planning parameters on purchased items.Ensures manufacturing material requirements are met in a timely manner.
  • Actively monitors the flow of material from the supply base to inventory location, and adjusts planning parameters as required.
  • Coordinates activities across multiple groups including, manufacturing, warehouse, factory planning, purchasing, and logistics supplier managers.
  • Reviews MRP plan requirements and develops an approved materials supply plan for assigned work center.Resolves incorrect MRP messages with planning and master scheduling.
  • Reviews MRP plan requirements and develops an approved supply plan for all material components.
  • Analyzes and reports material gaps and impacts to production schedule.
  • Coordinates activities to resolve material availability escalations.
  • Maintains metrics to ensure measure material performance activities including safety stock, adherence to reschedule messages, yield rates, etc.
  • Participates on process development/improvement teams as a departmental representative.
  • Drives allocation decisions using impact analysis with Central Planning, and Logistics Supplier Managers.
  • Executes special and/or ongoing research and data analysis tasks on behalf of professionals or management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business, Production Management or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of planning, scheduling, purchasing, production, and inventory control practices and processes a must.
  • Knowledge and understanding of theories of ASCP/MRP, JIT, Kanban and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Understanding of the concepts and functionality of integrated manufacturing systems, Oracle preferred.
  • Experience in the areas of cycle time reduction, process flow and cost optimization.
  • Knowledge of process mapping and flow charts to help improve methodologies and processes desired.
  • Experience with a semiconductor or equivalent level IC/Electronics equipment manufacturing organization preferred, but not required.
  • Strong competence with the various tools, procedures, programming languages used to accomplish the job.

  • Ability to use general business system (ERP/MRP) experience preferred.Oracle experience a plus.
