Introduction to the job
The Droplet Generator Root Cause Analysis Product Owner will work to lead a scrum team focused on identifying the root causes for the most complicated failure modes observed in the droplet generator. This Scrum team works within the Droplet Generator Agile Release Train. Together with the Scrum Master and the Group Lead, the Product Owner will work to align with the specific needs of the programs to make sure the scrum team is able to focus on the highest priority work. Additionally, they will take the role of principle scientist on features within the scrum team.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Role and responsibilities
- Serve as the Product Owner for the Root Cause Analysis team within the Droplet Generator Agile Release Train.
- Based on FA observations, create hypothesis, design and perform testing, and provide recommendations to project teams.
- Coordinate with external laboratories and oversee the work they are performing.
- Review data within the team and from external labs to identify root causes.
- Write and review documentation about test plans, results, and findings.
- Work directly with the project teams to provide insights to the root causes of failures.
- Write, review and update procedures based on findings and recommendations.
- Work with manufacturing to perform routine FA on failed droplet generators and interpret results to identify root causes.
- Lead university collaboration projects to understand fundamental aspects of the physics and chemistry of the droplet generator.
Education and experience
- Masters with 5-10 years of experience or PhD with 3-5 years of experiences in Materials Science, Experimental Physics or related field.

- Mastery of Root Cause Analysis techniques.
- Solid understanding of materials science fundamentals.
- Mastery of material characterization techniques.
- Experience with materials under extreme condition, ex. hydrogen embrittlement, liquid metals, high temperatures, high pressures.
- Hands on experience with vacuum setups, design of custom vacuum set-ups preferred.
- Ability to interpret and use results from finite element analysis.
- Experience leading a technical team and setting priorities on work items.
- Comfort operating in a highly uncertain technical environment and a willingness to quickly adjust the direction of the team.
- Strong stakeholder management skills in a cross functional environment.
- Working knowledge of SAFe Agile methodologies and way of working.
- Track record of driving projects from initiation to implementation over the whole project lifecycle.
- Experience taking a problem statement and creating a work breakdown package.
- Skill with balancing technical, financial, and resource requirements and constraints.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience presenting effectively at a high level to senior stakeholders in regular status updates.
