Role and responsibilities

As Group Leader in ASML’s Machine Control & Infrastructure (MCI) department you will be active in the area of high level control and data access software of complex lithographic machines. So obviously you will need excellent technical skills. But it’s not just your own performance that you must optimize.

Central to your role as Group Leader is your insight into the different skill sets and motivational factors of each individual member of your team. This insight is essential, because it will enable you to correctly align targets with personalities and thereby optimize your team’s day-to-day performance. You will also need a technical vision of what will be required in the near future. This will enable you to set-out and navigate a roadmap of required expertise and thereby ensure that ASML will continue to push the boundaries of software development in years to come. Undoubtedly, this is a major challenge, but one that comes with the rich feelings of pride, accomplishment and team spirit.

You will manage part of the development of Scanner Production Control by leading a team of software engineers and architects. You will interact with internal and external customers and stakeholders, but most importantly, you will optimize the contribution of each member of your team by focusing and building on each member’s individual strengths. Your group works in a SAFe Agile Release Train for almost 2 years, together with teams of three adjacent groups in the department.

Main responsibilities:

- Managing a group of about ~20-25 FTE of professionals plus indirectly farm out as needed, being responsible for people, process and product.
- Define an implement resource roadmaps for the group; hiring, onboarding and coaching team members.
- Agree targets with the best-suited person(s) for the job.
- Coach group members in their job and optimize their personal growth.
- Create, maintain and validate enabling technologies and competencies.
- Agree on overall development targets for the group.
- End responsible the quality of the deliverables.
- Cooperate with other ASML departments to ensure on-time and on-budget competitive products.

Education and experience

University level degree in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field with explicit experience in software development.

At least 10 years of experience in developing software solutions in an industrial production environment. A profound engineering background, combined with several years of hands-on project management involving direct customer contact. Having prior experience as a people manager in a high-tech R&D environment is a plus.

Within this sector the department Machine Control & Infrastructure (MCI) is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the high level control and data access software of the complex lithographic machines. ASML creates high tech machines; software engineers from MCI are facing several aspects of production control, data management and interface control.
