Introduction to the job

Manages the field service team and provides technical guidance associated with Cymer lasers.Represents the company to the customer and assumes accountability for customer satisfaction with service.

Radford - Directs the coordination of technical and administrative support activities including installation, repair, preventative maintenance, and engineering change upgrades.Ensures adequate records and systems are maintained.Schedules personnel responding to critical situations.Maintains communication with design management and specialists in resolving technical problems and/or bringing problems to the design department’s attention.Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Provides appropriate service engineeringresources required for equipment installation, maintenance, upgrade, &repairs of equipment at customer sites.
Obtainsservice engineering resources based on customer requirements forcomprehensive system support, including systems in escalation and underinstallation.Includes monitoringand planning using headcount modeling tools.
Manages personnel schedules to ensureadequate resource for customer satisfaction: vacation/sick time, training,factory support labor, and new systems or upgrades.Includes monitoring and reporting of FSEutilization.
Manages employee development includingschools, evaluations, counseling, safety and procedures; provides technical supporttraining to the local field service and technical support personnel so asto build stand-alone competencies.
Frequentlyinteracts with subordinate supervisors, customers and/or functional peergroup managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, othercompany divisions or units, or customers and the company.May also interact with senior managementor executive levels on matters concerning assigned geographic and/orfunctional area(s), divisions, and/or customers.
Plansand manages comprehensive budgets for assigned areas. Includes above andbelow the line expenses and coordinating with cross-functional areas toensure adherence and align with company objectives.
Executes inventory management control andforecasting in coordination with regional and corporate logistics.
Ensures availability and safe operation oftools or equipment for installation and maintenance of systems at customersites.Includes purchasing ofadministrative tools, e.g., computers, pagers, etc.
Ensures that customers are setup to utilizeappropriate technical publication materials.
Engages and maintains customer relationshipsincluding proactive interface with customer management to identifypotential areas of improvement and drive resolution consistent with companypolicies and procedures.
Reviews short and long term servicestrategies with the Customer and confirms plans.

Ensures and maintains cross-functional interface withAccount Management, Logistics, Technical Support, and other regional andcorporate functions, as required.
Regularly monitors and manages escalations,including escalation to Service Director for critical issues/hurdles onlong downs.
Completes weekly reports, as necessary, tomeet corporate and customer requirements.
Conducts staff meetings with SiteCoordinator(s) and FSE’s to discuss metrics and ensure alignment on Cymerstrategies.
Reviews information about company withFSE’s, e.g., Business status, new products, etc.
Establishes and monitors FSE trainingplans, FSE certification tracking, and training strategies in conjunctionwith corporate training department.
Manages employee development includingschools, evaluations, counseling, safety and procedures.
Manages all FCO implementation in thefield.
Manages laser performance monitoring and reportingutilizing necessary tools and established measures.
Manages projects implementation

Completes SAFE Program including incidentreporting, safety training execution, and safety FCO implementation.
Ensures safe working environments andprocedures for FSE’s during daily work activities.
Ensures FSE utilization of and regularlyreviews corporate CRM tool (Siebel) for trends, content accuracy, and FSEadherence.
Approves and/or Updates Failure Analysisreports.
Assists FSE’s with obtaining informationfrom Cymer San Diego (payroll, HR, IT, etc.).
Performs a variety of duties to supportbudget and staff oversight to include (but not limited to) reviewing andapproving personal requisitions, preparing Personnel Action Requests, andmanaging the performance review process for assigned staff.
Providesguidance to subordinates within the latitude of established companypolicies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures thataffect immediate organization(s).
Performs other duties as assigned.

Role and responsibilities

Manages day-to-day activities of a department, sub-function, or product line. Manages, perhaps through less experienced supervisors, the coordination of activities of a sub-function/department with responsibility for achieving results, including costs, methods and staffing plans. Frequently interacts with less experienced supervisors, customers, and/or other managers. Often leads a cooperative effort among members of a project team. Uses interpersonal skills to influence customers, suppliers and other comparable level managers. May be responsible for managing a staff function and may not have direct reports.

Typically this level is characterized by managers of professional employees. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Follows operational processes and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Provides guidance to direct reports within the latitude of established company policies. May recommend changes to policies and established procedures that affect immediate organization(s). Managers are responsible to ensure project goals/ milestones are met, sales targets achieved and approved budgets are hit.

Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements; may have budget responsibility although likely will provide input into annual budgeting process. Develops and implements plans for tactical execution. Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis requires an understanding of current business trends. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization. Accountable for the development and retention of key talent.

Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills.
Ability totranslate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problemsthrough written and/or graphical formats.
Excellentcustomer service skills, with an advanced understanding of customerrelationship building.
In depthknowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes.
Solid experience managing field service engineersand ensuring high quality service to assigned customer(s) through assignedstaff.
Highlevel knowledge of operations processes pertaining to semiconductorequipment installation and support, i.e, stepping and or scanning “PhotoLithography Imaging” systems, DUV metrology systems, DUV excimer lasers,or specific DUV Beam Delivery Systems.
Ability to analyze system performance related tosophisticated data analysis, system troubleshooting, and technical problemsolving skills.
Persuasion skillsto influence and change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, othersin sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship(s).
Expert level oftechnical knowledge of electronics and optics/lasers.Proven success applying advancedknowledge of installation, maintenance/repair, and trouble-shooting atboth the module and system level.
Ability tofacilitate resolution of technical challenges.
Business acumento understand the business implications of decision; orientation toprofitability, knowledge of market and competition; alignment of strategicand operational goals.
Strong computerskills, expert knowledge of MicroSoft Office Suite and other databasesoftware used in manufacturing environments such as LabView, InternetProtocol, Visual Basic.
For regions - oral and written English language skills required.

Education and experience

Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and may require an advanced degree (Master's, PhD), in applicable field or equivalent experience. Typically has 8+ years of direct work experience; prior management experience may be required depending on the function/ role.
BSEEor BSME witha minimum of eight (8)years experiencein service operations management,preferably in a semiconductorequipment discipline.
Extensive applied technical support/field serviceexperience in semiconductor photolithography/semiconductor fab environment is highlydesired, including experience in DUV optical imagingsystems support in a cleanroomenvironment,or equivalent experience indiagnosing, troubleshooting, and/or customer service on electronicsystems.
Experienceperforming multiple on-site installations and background as a lead on aBeta product release.
