Background information

As part of Electronics Development the Infra group is responsible for delivering all electrical infrastructure including cables, bundles, connector plates, cabinets and mechanical hardware for all the consumers of the machine.
To route the cables and bundles around the machine, custom cable gutters are designed according volume and requirements.
To become more efficient and predicable, we want to have standardized gutter designs where some parameters can be changed depending on the needs.

Your assignment

In this internship your responsibility will be to make 3 standardized gutter design that include a parametric model in NX where the dimensions and separation can be changed by the designer depending on the requirements.
- Top loaded gutter
- Side loaded gutter
- Bottom loaded gutter

The investigation shall include:
- Study of existing gutter designs
- Material selection
- Manufacturability
- Cost
- Weight
- Stress/FEM

Your assignment will include the delivery of the parametric design, a user manual and knowledge transfer presentation.
The parametric design should include feature where a (volume) shell solid is generated based on the maximum tolerances which the gutter will have. This volume shell will be used to claim the volume, in the initial machine design.

Your profile

  • You are a bachelor or master student who is studying mechanical engineering;
  • You are looking to do your graduation project. This internship is suitable for bachelor/master gradution project/thesis;

What we do is at the heart of all the electronic devices that keep us informed, entertained and connected. Every day, you use electronics that simply wouldn’t exist without our machines.

Behind ASML’s innovations are engineers who think ahead. The people who work at our company include some of the most creative minds in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, chemistry, mechatronics, optics, mechanical engineering, and computer science and software engineering.

We believe we can always do better. We believe the winning idea can come from anyone. We love what we do – not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.

Students: getting ready for real-world R&D
We’re a global team of about 28,000 people of 120 different nationalities and counting. Headquartered in Europe’s top tech hub, the Brainport Eindhoven region in the Netherlands, our operations are spread across Europe, Asia and the US.
