At ASML, we manufacture complex lithography systems critical to the production of microchips, unlocking the potential of people and society by pushing technology to new limits. In Business Line Applications, we develop modeling and correction software to link our metrology and inspection systems with our lithography systems, leveraging our expertise in both fields. We create holistic application products that are used for process monitoring and control in many state-of-the-art semiconductor fabs around the world.

Within the Development & Engineering department, we focus on development, integration and qualification of these application products, in close collaboration with our internal stakeholders and customers. Role and responsibilities

As a Jr. Design Engineer On-Product Overlay in D&E Applications you contribute to the development of innovative overlay control solutions that optimize the overlay of layers in product wafers, thereby helping our customers to optimize their production ramp-up and yield.

More specifically, you will;

  • Perform feasibility studies by running simulations and perform data analysis with novel models and algorithms on customer data.
  • Create prototype MATLAB tooling to support such feasibility studies.
  • Propose design options, create conceptual and detailed designs, and test prototypes taking into account functional requirements and specifications.
  • Work with software engineering teams to support implementation of product features in Agile scrum way of working.Collaborate with Customer Support to roll out new functionality and gather feedback for further product improvement.
    You will need to combine your analytical thinking with creative problem-solving abilities to understand the underling physics and develop innovative control solutions. This includes deep-diving in your data analyses, ideation and filing IP, presenting and publishing your results bothinternally and externally, building commitment of your stakeholders for your ideas and propositions, and driving towards productive conclusions.

Education and experience

BSc/MSc/PhD with a solid technical background in some of the following fields: statistics, data analysis, design of experiment, modeling, system identification, control engineering, filtering, optimization.

  • 0-3 years of experience in an industrial development or process control organization.
  • Intermediate/advanced (functional/object-oriented) programming skills in MATLAB/Python or comparable, with an affinity for algorithm design.
