Founded in 1984, ASML is the world’s leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry, manufacturing complex machines that are critical to the production of integrated circuits or microchips. The mission of the Mechanical Development department is to design and develop the complex mechanics for these machines, which are some of the highest precision products ever produced in the world. This position is based on-site in Wilton, CT, which has both R&D and manufacturing operations. We design and produce multiple sub-system modules that are shipped to our headquarters in Veldhoven, The Netherlands where they are integrated into the full lithography machine.

As a Project Lead for Development & Engineering (D&E) Business Process Improvements, you will lead the development and deployment of new business processes and improvements to existing business processes that support the Development & Engineering organization. These processes will affect more than 2,500 D&E users locally in Wilton, CT and more than 25,000 D&E users worldwide. We are seeking an individual with a strong background in engineering and leadership, including taking responsibility of the full “art to part” development cycle.

You will lead a team of ~5-30 engineers, architects, key users, IT specialists, training developers, and business adoption specialists. You will closely collaborate with cross-sector colleagues in Wilton, CT and in Veldhoven, Netherlands. You will work to understand the current ASML business processes and systems, quantify present limitations including user experience, and develop and deploy a new improved end state. Systems include Siemens NX/Teamcenter, SAP, and ASML specific applications.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

Project Leads at ASML are expert planners and communicators who maximize available resources to meet challenging schedules and deliver the high quality robust solutions. Project Leadership at ASML starts with understanding the functional requirements and deriving specifications. You will collaborate with system architects in a multidiscipline project team to develop concepts, perform impact analysis, build and test prototype solutions, collect user feedback, integrate and test solutions, develop training, deploy solutions, and ensure that they are adopted by the business.

Role and responsibilities include:

  • Create project proposals and project evaluations.
  • Exercise projects according to our ASML project methodology.
  • Project Leadership: Define project team and get approval on project plan. Manage project planning, project execution and realizing impact, including reporting and project closing. Transfer project to process owner in line management.
  • Continuous improvements: Identify potentials for new improvements and contribute to the improvement of the whole operations value chain (system re-design) and infrastructure by participating in or facilitating problem solving sessions.
  • Business case: Evaluate financial consequences of required improvement (including resources) to implement improvements.
  • Report progress in Project Boards and/or Wilton senior management team.
  • Not only define and steer, but is also focus on the operational aspects of the implementation having a hands-on mentality.
  • Ensure continuous commitment of key stakeholders to make the project a success, by addressing them on their tasks and responsibilities.
  • Have full understanding of the power and need of Change Management/Communication.

Education and experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering or other engineering, math, or science degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with system design and development and/or process design and development.
  • The hired candidate must have ability to communicate effectively in the English language both written and oral.

Preferred skills for this job include:

  • Mastery of business processes used to design and develop of complex mechanical, electrical, mechatronic, or optical systems.
  • Project planning and status reporting using MS Project or equivalent.
  • Strong technical writing, communication and presentations skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to derive conclusions from data analysis and make practical recommendations.
  • Ability to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders to deliver standard, consistent and cost-effective processes.
  • Prior experience leading teams and planning for deliverables.
  • Understanding of the Engineering Change Process. Familiarity with the CMII methodology is a plus.
