Introduction to the job
Maximizing yield, manufacturing speed, efficiency and reliability are among the key parameters for customers in high-volume chip manufacturing. Business Line Applications (BL Apps) extends ASML holistic lithography solutions by developing products that work alongside our lithography systems, in order to help them performing better and improving the patterning process.
BL Apps supports several manufacturing process steps in our customers’ fabs, from R&D to mass production. The portfolio of products includes metrology, inspection, computational lithography, data analytics and control software to quickly and accurately measure, optimize and control overlay and imaging performance on silicon wafers.
ASML’s Applications products are critical elements in the semiconductor manufacturing process.
Role and responsibilities
The Proto Engineer position is in the System Integration group, within the D&E Process Window Detection Software Department, as part of the BL Apps.
The System Integration group, being also part of D&E (Design and Engineering), is responsible for the integration of modules into machine proto systems and for proving that they meet the specifications. Proto systems are expensive and scarce resources, therefore they are in continuous operation supporting:
- Verification of both hardware and software concept designs at a system level
- Verification of existing and/or new functionalities
- Qualification of proto system releases to customers
In your role as proto engineer, you ensure efficient and effective integration and test activities on the proto systems, such as:
- Keep the machines in a perfect state: hardware and software configuration up to date and well-functioning
- Determining whether issues are related to new design or proto system
- Monitor and report proto system performance, issues, test logs from users and finance.
- Ensuring efficient and effective integration activities on the machines, by:
o Reviewing and preparing test plans considering aspects like proto configuration, tools and parts availability, finance
o Providing technical support to D&E engineers;
o Escalating in case problems cannot be solved by yourself.
- Collaborations with proto integrators, system test engineers and other proto engineers
- Ensuring safe working environment and work according 5S principles.
