Role and responsibilities

As an ASML Principal FEA Engineer your activities will focus on the deployment of FEM analysis, but within a world-leading organization this position offers much more scope to express and develop your talents.At ASML, FEM analysis is being used to contribute more than just mathematical predictions – your expertise combined with a flair for creative problem solving will generate ideas for use at the very forefront of the design process.

Also, from your role, you will share your vision and inspire others to develop creative design solutions. You will influence the design of modules and their performance levels from specification to mechanical design, as well as the analysis process itself.

This vision of FEM analysis is prompted by the ever shortening lifecycles of technologies, the limits of which are increasingly being reached faster than ever. By combining FEM analysis and creative thinking, ASML is approaching innovation from a new and exciting direction, one that promises fresh thinking on how to reach next-generation technologies. You will use your experience and to make ASML take the next step towards Simulation Driven Design.

As a Principal FEA Engineer you will ensure that competences and processes are in place to enable right-first-time solutions of mechanical designs by mathematically predicting their performance levels. Moreover, you will help ensure maximized performance of the mechanical design by motivating your colleagues to develop innovative improvements through creative and conceptual thinking.

Mainresponsibilities (from approximate highest to lowest effort):

  • Createand execute simulation plans and assure that analyses and recommendations arerobust, clear and delivered on time.
  • Definition,documentation and continuous improvement of robust FEM analysis processes
  • Obtainrequired fidelity of models by defining and follow up of V&V(Verification & Validation) plan.
  • Definitionand supervising outsourcing to local and off-shore engineering partners
  • Advisedesign engineers and product architects
  • Keepupdated about the state of the art within the field of FEA
  • Coachingof junior FEA engineers and Designers in project setting
  • Definitionof internships and coaching of students
  • Personallyperform (conceptual) FEM analysis.

Education and experience

TechnicalUniversity, Master’s or PhD with specialization solid mechanics;biomechanics; mechanics of materials, or mechatronics (with mechanicalbackground).

  • Relevantworking experience (> 5 years, but > 8 preferred) on tasks mentionedunder “Main responsibilities”
  • Solidexpertise in structural mechanics, including Dynamics.
  • Extensiveexperience with Finite Element Analysis software , preferably Ansys, NXSimcenter or Hyperworks
  • Operatingminimal at PSE “Standard” , but preferably at “Advanced” level. (Ref.:www.nafems.org)
  • Knowledge/experiencein one or more of the topics below is preferred
  • Theoretical and experimentalknowledge/experience in the field of precision engineering
  • Verification & Validation(V&V)
  • Leading a (small) group of engineers
  • Experience with SPDM systems
  • Experience on system modelling usingFMI/FMU
