Introduction to the job

As a Focus Engineer you will be a key player in making the performance of our EUV systems meet our customer’s demands. You will be responsible for predicting Focus performance of our future systems as well as validating, troubleshooting and optimizing Focus performance of current systems.

Role and responsibilities

Our customers make computer chips and our lithography systems enable this by exposing the customer's chips design on the wafers. Key performance parameter to achieve this exposure is the Focus of the system.

You will be technically challenged to understand the complex EUV system, all its dependencies and define new Focus solutions to improve it. You will be responsible to design, create, validate and integrate Focus solutions within the boundaries defined by system specifications.

Your analysis skills will be required during the system integration phase as variations in expected system performance emerge in this phase.

You will cooperate with colleagues within the Focus group, with colleagues delivering scanner modules that can impact Focus as well as with representatives from the factory and field.

Main responsibilities

  • Perform simulations to predict Focus system performance
  • Validate software solutions and hardware improvements impacting Focus performance which are developed by various DE-ASML groups
  • Create Focus validation strategies to test EUV systems
  • Troubleshoot Focus related issues in the field and factory
  • Monitor factory and field (population) data and perform analyses to identify trends and initiate improvement proposals for the next generation of EUV systems

Education and experience

Solid Technical background: PhD or Master in applied physics, applied mathematics or engineering

  • Analytical and experimental experience
  • Experience in MATLAB
  • Previous work experience or study-direction involving system level thinking is preferable
