Introduction to the job

The main objective of the Environmental Management Specialist is to develop, implement and maintain a regional wide consistent approach (policies, practices and competences) on environmental management. All of this based on and executed within CRE’s strategic pillars (Safety, TCO, Flexibility, Business Alignment, Wellbeing and Sustainability).

Role and responsibilities

The Environmental Management Specialist is responsible for the performance and target setting related to CRE Regional Environmental Management and the implementation of the corporate initiatives.

Act as the expert in the applicable field, yet maintaining a helicopter/generic view to monitor and judge impact on other assets or the entire system of assets in relation to safety for ASML. Manage and work in close connection with other competence experts and co-create/develop solutions from integrated (system) view.
Act as the functional owner by taking leadership and strong stand-point how and when compliance is required and mandatory and act upon follow-up
Find a good balance between prescribing guidelines and workable requirements that can be adopted in the execution of asset maintenance or projects (clarity in guidelines, instruments etc.)
Manage a complex field of stakeholders and in particular manage various interests and be able to explain and deliberate the necessity of the guidelines set by you as the leading competence expert.

1.Responsible Regulatory and compliance, ISO 14001 management and coordination (Asia Region),
2.CRE TW/SG sustainability program management, Defining & Report Trends and Analyses and the associated reporting to corporate and to the government.
3.Manage, monitor and maintain the required operation permits of CRE activities
4.Implement and Maintain the process/procedures (L4 – L5) and streamline the applicable methods/protocols used in the field.
5.Execute EHS-audits according plan: Safety in projects, Environmental, CRE-processes and procedures.
6.Connect to other (sr.)experts (routines), e.g. CRE Competence and CRE EHS.
7.Execute projects and daily work as a senior expert on Environmental Management in the Region.
8.Represent the CRE Region TW/SG (factories and offices) in meetings, e.g. pillar meetings environmental and sustainability.
9.From helicopter view on engineering & maintenance, project management and risk management determine the areas that are subject to technical asset safety and develop policies for each specific area and design the compliance process.
10.Ensure compliance to insurance requirements, laws, regulations and other performance objectives(i.e. certifications, labels, indexes). Interfacing with the insurance company on technical issues; representing CRE Region TW/SG in technical discussions with ASML insurance management and external insurers.
11.Continuously develop state of the art knowledge on asset safety and identify opportunities for process system and technical improvements.
12.Drive improvements from advise to decision-making to execution together with competence experts.
13.Perform root cause analysis or engineering/compliance reviews and drive solutions for improvements (compliance manager).
14.Maintain and provide access to an active professional network outside ASML and share the best known methods with other sites.

Education and experience

BSc / Master in engineering or technicalstudy, supplemented with Safety and/or Environmental studies

10+ years of relevant work experience; construction/renovation projects in international high tech production (preferred cleanroom) environments

Decide about/approve designs, construction plans and solutions related to the environmental management.
Decide about/approve upon safety situations as functional owner and act with mandate to either change or interface when (severe) risks are identified
Decide upon guidelines and standards that are leading for managing and maintaining the assets in a safe, environmentally responsible and secure manner, contributing to the optimal performance for ASML in the region
Decide upon (other or specialist) expertise to acquire for in-depth analysis, studies or engineering work.
