Introduction to the job

The Supplier Quality Engineering group for the Large mechanics of Vessel and Scanner, is responsible for the industrialization during the development phase. The role is to manage the cooperation between ASML design teams and suppliers to secure timely involvement of the supplier. Large mechanics consist of the structural frames for scanner and vessel as well as high level buy complex assemblies that are build-up and qualified at our supplier (external work center). In the scanner team we have a vacancy for a Group Team Lead.

Role and responsibilities

As a Group Team Leader (GTL you will be operating in a fast paced and multidisciplinary development environment. In close cooperation with your Group lead and peer GTL you guide, coach and grow the group of highly motivated engineers (10-20FTE).
Your team of SQEs organizes and develops the relation with the suppliers with the purpose to create an optimal engineering collaboration between suppliers and ASML during the development process. As GTL you lead that team and carry the responsibility for the performance and development of the team members. You align the workload with the program stakeholders while balancing the distribution over the team. You cooperate with the designer team-leads and group-leads to drive and improve the development process.

Within the D&E organization, the SQE is the primary responsible person, from early supplier involvement until the product design and supplier process is mature enough to be released for volume. Using your in-depth technical knowledge, analytic thinking, political antenna and excellent people skills, you support your team in working closely with suppliers and D&E project teams.

As group team leader (GTL) your main responsibilities will be:

  • Allocation of the engineers to projects balancing capabilities, project needs and workload
  • Continuous development and coaching of the team-members
  • Implementation and improvement of WoW processes within the team and with the SQE community
  • Coordinating role with respect to all SQE activities (incl. other SQE colleagues) within the allocated projects
  • Driving early supplier involvement in the D&E projects to secure that technology expertise of ASML and supplier are merged in the best way
  • Ensure that parts quality, manufacturability and serviceability aspects are covered in the design phase.
  • Ensure documenting the D&E project collaboration, including supplier & ASML responsibilities and roles via a Statement of Work (SoW)
  • Supporting supplier development through the categories and supplier account teams
  • Contribute to supplier development to improve operational excellence by driving execution of existing agreements, improvement actions, and participation in supplier audits

Education and experience

  • Experienced bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Preferred experience with Six Sigma green/black belt
  • Broad (10 - 20 years) experience in high-tech industry working with complex parts and modules
  • Proven skills in people development
  • Expertise in supplier development and part quality assurance in development projects
  • A strong preference for a candidate that masters the Dutch language (given most of the supply base is in the direct environment of ASML, the Netherlands)

This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology.

Within ASML, D&E is responsible for the planning, development, and delivery of integrated solutions that meet business requirements. This responsibility also includes the specification and trade-offs across sectors.
The department supplies resources, means and methods and technology to ensure the parts quality in all product phases. The SQE interfaces with suppliers, project leads development, customer Support, Manufacturing, Engineers and Procurement.
Depending on the supplier and project this position might require frequent travelling.
