Do you know what is needed to run ASML applications on customer’s networks? And how to interact both with the customer’s IT department and the ASML development team? If so then this role of IT/Infrastructure Competence Engineer at Customer Support (CS) is just the opportunity for you.

VCP stands for Virtual Computational Platform and is a virtual platform that is installed on the customers IT infrastructure, which enables large ASML software applications. In the past ASML offered a hardware solution (LCP) as platform for these applications, but due to scalability and maintainability challenges of this platform, this is now being transitioned to the customer’s network.

Role and responsibilities

The IT/Infra Competence Engineer is part if the so called 'install prep team' that consists of a Project Leader from CS and an Competence Engineer for IT/Infrastructure (this vacancy) and is responsible to prepare our (future) customers for the installation and maintenance of the VCP product. The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Translation of customer requirements to stack requirements and provision of recommendations on implementation;
  • Alignment with internal and external stakeholders such as D&E and customers on requirements for the initial VCP installation;
  • Identifying boundary systems which need to connect to the VCP in customer landscape;
  • Network configuration required for high availability and disaster recovery proof set-up;
  • Coordination of installations of which there are 2 per quarter with 6 months lead time per installation. Involves being physically present at customer sites for part of the installations, depending on customer and corresponding challenges;
  • Incident resolution in coordination with the Project Leader of CS;
  • Maintaining documentation and sharing knowledge related to lessons learned and improvements for future roll-outs.

Education and experience

  • Master’s degree (or Bachelor + relevant experience) in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a relevant industry in a B2B-setting;
  • Experience working on projects that involve big customers;
  • Knowledge of various stack technologies;
  • Understanding of the VCP concept and experience with Cloudera are preferred.
