This high-profile job enables an accelerated career with ASML in a key growth site for the coming years. Looking for an engineer already familiar with or willing and capable to quickly obtain a versatile mix of Overlay, Imaging, Defectivity, and Productivity competences on state of the arts lithography scanners and metrology systems to join us and make this new fab successful. You will focus on one ASML product platform and play the crucial role of leading the cross team and competency effort in organizing and supporting high pace on-product performance escalations. Further, you will work with rest of the application team to help support a full ASML product portfolio including EUV,DUV scanners and Yieldstar metrology systems. In close collaboration with Tech Support team, you will tackle complex on product issue head-on and drive the site’s success with on time ramping and smooth node transfer from Taiwan to Arizona. Having a pro-active and entrepreneurial mindset during the early engagement phase will make you, ASML, and our customer successful.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

Applications Engineering- Creating Tomorrow’s Value: We pro-actively enable business development and drive customer adoption of a tailored portfolio of sustainable ASML solutions by applying our industry product and process knowledge in a collaborative learning environment. Our customers are moving further in holistic lithography, increasing the footprint for application scanner, metrology, and control solutions.

You are relentless in driving the success of the ASML applications component during customer’s node transition and setup of high volume manufacturing in US. Initially, the focus will be establishing clear way of working and scaling up technical competence of the team. Drive performance proof of new systems of your main platform, establishing cross-platform node performance, as well as support to the transfer of the matured node from the HVM Taiwan location. Quickly, this will shift to an HVM operation where focus is on ensuring that the customer can keep running their process node at high output levels, and delivering continued year-over-year improvements thru joint taskforces. Driven by a determination to never give up, you’ll troubleshoot lithography issues potentially related to ASMLs product portfolio, and systems on your main platform in particular. You identify and drive these improvement projects pro-actively based on your technical intimate relation with your customer counterpart.

You collaborate seamlessly as One Team with the local equipment engineers, business line stakeholders, senior staff and account team, as well as counterparts at ASML Taiwan and customer stakeholders. You will leverage your strong sense of ownership, care for quality, and clear vision to customer deliverable to drive issues towards timely containment, effective solution and meaningful closure. By doing so you would establish a trusted partnership with customer on one hand and contributes towards team growth on competence and efficiency.

You are able to represent ASML as a technical expert in the field and get recognition of this by the customer. Since you will be working intimately with customers and sensitive customer data, a high level of integrity is required for securing confidentiality, while at the same time being able to translate customer issues into problem statements for ASML. Due to the scope and impact of this role, it offers you the opportunity to grow further in technical expertise roles, or project or management leadership roles.

  • Play an important role in the setup of a new site and the node transfer from Taiwan to Arizona, content will be dynamic.
  • Direct support and lead/organize troubleshooting and escalation process for customer on-product issues on ongoing basis
  • Translate a customer on-product issue into a potential lithography or metrology related problem statement, resolve these issues to help them maximize the performance and use of ASML products.
  • Demonstrate technical competence leadership and effective escalation ownership to establish customer trust.
  • Mentor and accelerate junior engineer’s growth through leading by example
  • Participate and/or co-lead projects aligned with lead application engineer aimed at establishing and refining critical processes and KPIs around new systems introduction and supporting the HVM2HVM node transition.
  • Owning workstreams within bigger projects; develop and drive autonomously a project plan and chase a successful execution with regular updates to relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Meet with internal and external customers to maintain two-way level of commitment to keep all involved and affected parties informed of progress.
  • Prepare technical presentations for customer meetings, provide new user support, and assists sales.
  • Define and drive customer requirements for existing or evaluation products based on technical intimacy with the customer.

Education and experience

  • M.Sc in Physics, Optics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanics, Mathematics or a similar engineering degree
  • 2+ years’ relevant industry working experience on lithography/metrology process and solution.
  • Experience in customer service/customer facing role, preferably in product ramp or high volume manufacturing.
  • Proven track record in technical workstream/project management.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills, Mandarin preferred as additional language.
  • Must have strong organizational, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Detailed oriented individuals with strong critical thinking, problem solving and follow-up skills.
  • Fast learner with strong self-motivation to grow technically; be able to perform job at high standard with minimum supervision, and demonstrated flexibility and ability to thrive in a high pressure and fast paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and organize actions effectively and efficiently.
  • Self-starter that shows high drive, creativity, ambition and accountability.
  • Hands on experience in data analysis and coding using software like JMP, Matlab, Python, R to develop scripts for data analysis to lead projects during early engagement phase.
