Introduction to the job

“Paintings fade like flowers” Vincent van Gogh said in April 1889. This quote proves true, as many of his paintings and drawings have changed significantly over time due to color degradation. The Van Gogh Museum and ASML are working together in a in a multi-year partnership to minimize the degradation of the collection and to optimize display conditions.
One of the elements in understanding the degradation is to be able to better characterize how much it actually is degrading over time. ASML and Van Gogh Museum are working together to deliver a dedicated measurement tool to the Van Gogh Museum by 2023.


Role and responsibilities

The job mission is to evaluate several optical designs which are capable to measure the color change over time. This includes creating concepts and designs, creating test setups and proto-tools and evaluating different solution directions. Integrate this sensor into the full system such that the Van Gogh Museum can use the data.

Responsibilities of this position:
•Take the responsibility for the specification, design, and realization of sensor.
•Integrate the sensor into the system.


Education and experience

Msc / Phd in optical system design
Hands on lab and testing experience


Experience in optical sensor design:systems specification, design, calibration and realization.
