Introduction to the job

As a NXE software architect you drive SW solutions/roadmaps that enable the EUV business line to create its products, with the agreed quality, costs and timing, that meet our customer's needs.

We support the EUV product lifecycle by taking responsibility for the definition and execution of SW technology roadmaps that support the realization of the product roadmaps.

Role and responsibilities

As a software architect you understand market trends and their impact on customer needs, continuously develop the basic architecture of new products, conduct feasibility studies in order to deliver budgets, specifications ((parts of) SPS and SDS) and verification of systems that the products are serving the customers’ needs, can be manufactured and serviced and are timely
and against minimal costs available in combination with the continuous quest for improvement.

Key Activity Areas

1. Contribute to the creation of the roadmap for the business drivers (imaging, overlay, focus, productivity) of the lithographic tool and/or create a technology roadmap and / or functional cluster roadmap derived from the roadmap for business drivers.
2. Conduct feasibility studies
3. Integrate the results from studies, experiences, research etc. into the definition of business drivers on system level, making trade-offs regarding long/short term, coherence etc.
4. Perform trade-off studies and (parallel) solution developments to determine the preferred realization and/or technology of own field of specialization functionality
5. Define test specifications (TPS) and/or test and verify deliverables and new products in the area of own field of specialization against TPS
6. Develop and maintain documentation on specifications, design and test analysis results and ensure filing of relevant information in the filing system
7. Keep up with relevant developments, technological and market related, in own field of specialization, develop and maintain own network and exchange knowledge with other professionals
8. Lead, coach, develop and appraise employees within the person’s expertise / team
9. Define, plan, manage and coordinate assigned (portfolio of) projects and ensure execution and delivery, within the project management guidelines

Education and experience

• Bachelor or Master with an education in Physics, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems or equivalent
• Software Architect with 5-10 years of experience in large-scale software applications - embedded programming is preferred.
• Sound understanding of Mechatronic, Thermal and Optical systems is a must
• Can explain complex matters in various levels
• C, C++, Python programming in a Linux environment
• UML, OOP, Design Patterns
• Clearcase, SVN, Git, Jenkins
• Agile, Scrum, V-Model
• Matlab knowledge is an advantage
• Technical background of semiconductor industry processes, process integration, process control, semiconductor devices and manufacturing is a plus.

Within ASML's business function Development & Engineering - Software, in the EUV Embedded software cluster department in the group ESE Imaging Group the vacancy is positioned.

The Imaging group is divided into the Illumination, Rema and the Projection function Cluster. The Illumination function provides light with the right properties to illuminate the reticle in our EUV systems. The Rema function is to mask the reticle to illuminate only the intended pattern at the reticle. The primary function of the projection lens is to project the reticle image onto (part
of) the wafer.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
