Data Science Internship (non-thesis): Develop KPIs for Electrostatic Wafer Clamps
Research & development
In a nutshell
Research & development
Are you a master student in Data Science or a related field? Do you have knowledge in Python, SQL, and data visualization? Then this internship might be interesting for you!
Electrostatic (ES) wafer clamps are used in ASML's EUV scanners to enable fast and precise movements of the wafer during exposures and measurements. Only a handful of clamps are being produced every year due to the complexity of the manufacturing process, and not all clamps are born the same.
Our team is responsible for researching, designing, testing, de-risking, and monitoring the electrostatic component of the ES clamps. To verify the performance of the ES clamps at our customers, we are developing a toolbox that makes use of historic data from the field and factory to generate key performance indicators (KPIs), combining them with metrics from other performance groups in ASML. Our ambitious goal is to become predictive for maintenance actions and possible malfunctions of the ES clamps at our customers.
For this assignment you will:
- Define metrics and KPIs to help us understand our product’s performance;
- Immerse yourself in Python engineering for better developer productivity by building tools that reduce maintenance overhead of working with data pipelines and help increase reliability;
- Deep-dive in ES clamp functioning and usage at our customers;
- Work in multi-functional teams to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new product objectives;
- Help drive optimization, testing and tooling to improve reliability and data quality.
To be the perfect match for this internship you:
- Are a master student in Data Science or another relevant field;
- Have advanced knowledge in Python (Pandas and NumPy), SQL & data visualization;
- Have experience working with data engineering;
- Appreciate agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation;
- Are pragmatic and understand the tradeoffs between the perfect solution and a working solution;
- Are a quick learner.
This is a master apprentice internship with a minimum duration of 6 months for 5 days per week. The starting date is February 2023.
Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship.
