Role and responsibilities
As Platform System Engineer you are the technical leader of a platform development program. In this position the primary responsibility is definition of a new NXT and XT platforms, maximizing the commonality within the platform and between the platforms. For modules which cannot be fully common, configurable solutions needs to be found with a large common base, and specific add-ons in cases where there is customer value. The DUV portfolio is getting highly diversified. A good platform definition and execution is a pre-requisite to make sure that we can develop many applications specific scanners based on a strong common platform.
As Platform System Engineer, you are part of the Platform team. Together with Product Marketing and the Platform Development Manager, you give direction to the development of new platforms or the structural improvement of our installed base. You lead a team of function systems engineers and function architects to achieve the deliverables.
You align with different function architects and projects and manage interfaces between key projects.
Your tasks and responsibilities include the following:
- You balance effort and impact from the team to get the best result for ASML and the customer.
- You inspire the team and make sure that all relevant expertise is involved.
- You interact with ASML field marketing in order to select and define improvements of ASML products beneficial to our customer.
- You engage with customer in their (early stage of) development to demonstrate the feasibility of litho solutions that enable their product innovations.
Your proposals for platform definition can cover a wide variety of solutions concerning hardware and software (re)designs. These proposals shall be balanced across all the different business drivers: overlay, focus, imaging, productivity, availability, factory cycle time and cost.
Education and experience
Education
Min. MSc degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or (applied) physics is mandatory.
You have a solid background in several of the following fields: semiconductor manufacturing and process technology, semiconductor device physics, data analysis, statistics. For this role a good knowledge of the different ASML system modules is important (“machine builder”).
Experience
You have a minimum of 8 years of experience within the semiconductor industry. You combine in depth technical knowledge and experience in overseeing complex systems and product roadmaps.

Context of the position
The department of System Engineering is part of the Product and Technology sector of ASML and consists of about 150 employees. As System Engineer, you work in a demanding multidisciplinary environment.Your internal stakeholders are the higher development & engineering (D&E) management and technical leads, group leaders responsible for resources, project leaders executing the implementation of the product improvement proposal and fellow system engineers.
Other information
Travelling a few times per year to customers worldwide is to be expected.
