Introduction to the job

After one of ASML’s extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography systems is shipped to a customer, the real magic begins for our people working in Customer Support. Thousands of dedicated engineers across the globe support our clients on and off-site 24/7 – and Central Services is essential to making this happen, helping deliver great service through a range of crucial support roles.

As an Operational Excellence professional, you’re at the heart of this offering, supporting Central Services in its mission to make the Customer Support organization better, more mature and efficient. Being responsible for activities around Operational Excellence, Quality, Continuous Improvement and Lean/Six Sigma in the CS organization globally inspires you. In your daily work, you’re committed to developing lasting improvements in standardization, quality and efficiency, through:

  • Efficiency programs (eg cost programs)

  • Quality programs

  • Continuous improvement services, using Lean/Six Sigma mindset and methods

  • Embedding growth and improvements through our CS Operational Excellence maturity model

Role and responsibilities

There are several different continuous improvement and quality roles within the Customer Support. So, when applying, please indicate the area you’re specialized in and years of experience.

  • Product owner (Operational Excellence & Quality)

You ‘own’ one of ASML’s Quality or Operational Excellence processes. This means delivering robust solutions to internal customers that boost operational excellence, thinking up process improvements, and getting them adopted. For your subject, you’re the go-to person for colleagues in the field, the ringmaster making it all happen. You have a passion for continuous improvement and a knack for inspiring others with your positive energy, making sure they follow your example.

  • LEAN/Six Sigma expert

Do you challenge the status quo? See yourself as a role model for operational excellence thinking? This role involves leading operational excellence transformations with operational & managerial stakeholders towards lasting improvements. In line with our deployment roadmap, you’ll help deliver value-add and cost-efficiency breakthroughs. And to get ASML’s Customer Support sector to the next level, you’ll act as a powerful agent of change. Passing this on to others is key, so you will partner up with the line organization, and coach employees. Others will look to you as an advisor for integration performance and identifying improvement areas.

  • Business engineer (business intelligence)

Business engineers have a flair for solving bottlenecks and helping with information needs. As a operational intelligence expert, you act as a CS internal consultant, getting to the root cause of challenges to improve efficiencies. Your driver for success is being able to identify and understand internal customers’ needs and use that information to present solution scenarios underpinned by data. As a business engineer, you’re involved in both project management and execution to support the customer in introducing the right solution.

  • Operational excellence leader

It’s up to you to set up, drive and embed a mindset change to achieve operational excellence within CS. Also, to drive a program to transform ASML’s current set of processes into a high-performing business system. You are a highly capable all-rounder, combining expertise and skills for mindset change, problem solving, knowledge transfer, continuous improvement, project leadership, people management, and an overall drive for results.

Who are you?

For these operational excellence teams, you need the following experiences and skills, depending on the role:

  • A Bachelor’s or preferably a Master’s degree in one of the following areas: Information Management, Business Intelligence, Mathematical Engineering, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Technical Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, (Applied) Physics or comparable. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree need to show relevant work experience.

  • A minimum of three years’ relevant experience in data analytics or a data landscape domain, interacting with multiple levels of the organization.

  • Certified Green Belt/Black Belt (or proven comparative experience) regarding knowledge of continuous improvement and LEAN/Six Sigma (advanced knowledge of Lean, DMAIC, Value Stream Mapping, Daily Management, 5S+1, Jidoka, Just-in-Time, Visual Management, Problem Solving, Hoshin Kanri, Facilitation & Training, Coaching, Change Management, Communication, Strategic Partnership & Leadership)

  • Experience in dashboard/data visualization tooling or tool development (e.g. Spotfire or PowerApps)

  • Experience in coaching/mentoring and training and facilitation, including being able to present complex information to diverse audiences clearly and concisely

  • You are fluent in English (spoken and written)

  • Experienced in stakeholder management

  • A hands-on mentality

  • Ability to be a service-oriented business partner: independent, reliable and objective

  • Strong people and networking skills

What do we offer?

  • A stimulating multicultural environment

  • Opportunities for career growth
