Do you have a background in Software Engineering or Computer Science? Do you have good analytical skills and an interest in code generation? Then this internship might be interesting for you!

Background information

The Metrology department at ASML, develops algorithms that are driving most of the parts within lithography scanners.These algorithms are performing a number of heavy computational tasks, involving linear least squares problems, solving linear equations etc. The usual cases consist of multi-dimensional arrays that are containing sensitive data meant for further calculations.

Your assignment

ASML has invested significant time to create an infrastructure that is able to generate an interface, described in a text file. This Interface Definition Language is the core of our software and ensures the correctness and the stability of the interfaces. Our request relies on the extension of this infrastructure to be able to generate a multidimensional array which will store the data in a single memory chunk and will provide the bindings for C, C++ and Python.

During this internship you have the opportunity to:

  • Learn the existing infrastructure for Interface Generation (and develop on FLEX & BISON);
  • Develop the code that will generate multidimensional array objects (start in C);
  • Create the bindings with C++ and Python;
  • Test;
  • Use it on existing algorithms and measure the performance;
  • Write technical report.

Your profile

To be a perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Have an educational background in Software Engineering or Computer Science;
  • Have an interest in code generation;
  • Are comfortable with Linux terminal and Windows;
  • Have a strong background in C/C++ and Python (FLEX and BISON are a bonus);
  • You are a team player;
  • You are eager to learn.

This is a bachelor graduation or master graduation/apprentice internship lasting 6 months, 5 days per week starting in September 2023.
Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a university for the entire duration of the internship.
This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access U.S. controlled technology.
