Role and responsibilities
The mission of a Senior Electrical Design Engineer is to design, realize, and to a limited extent manage the Electrical infrastructure of the ASML products.
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the following:
- The functional overview describing the location of the electronics parts in the (sub) system.
- The functional block diagrams describing the overview of the functions within the (sub) system on a high level.
- The functional specification (EPS), test specification (TPS), design specification (EDS) and qualification document (TAR) of the electrical infrastructure and electrical (sub) modules.
- Define, document and maintain requirements and roadmaps for the electrical layout infrastructure.
- Investigate and write down the requirements of production and service.
- Concept study and definition of the electrical infrastructure of the products.
- Perform trade-off studies to determine the preferred implementation scenario for the realization of the electrical infrastructure.
- Make concept designs that meet the international standards on electrical safety, EMC, and system performance requirement.
- Operate in a multidisciplinary team and interface with multiple projects to realize own work.
- Manage the electrical interfaces between the modules in the product.
- Implement engineering changes into the products.
- Investigate and solve issues on the Electrical infrastructure.
- Participate in realization of the infrastructure like connection panels, electronic racks & cabinets, and mains distribution.
- Represent project team in different meetings.
- Make a personal work breakdown planning, align with team and interfacing projects.
- Continuously improve the design processes.
- Mentor and coach, the junior Electrical Design Engineers.
Education and experience
Master's degree or Ph.D. in electrical engineering or similar level acquired by working experience.
Minimum qualifications – the hired candidate must possess all of the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for the position including:
- 3-5 years' experience as Electrical Designer of electronic functions, including experience with working in multidisciplinary.
- Solid technical knowledge on electronics, safety and diagnosis.
- Experience with general electrical engineering principles and electrical development methods and processes.
- Strong and sound knowledge of electrical connection methods, digital circuitry and power electronics (AC mains power and DC power distribution).
- Strong and solid Knowledge and practical experience on EMC and EMI.
- Fully understanding and solid knowledge of electrical safety standards (IEC) and US standards (NFPA, UL).
- Strong English communication, documentation and presentation skills.
- Years of hands-on experience for testing and troubleshooting of the electrical design in system level and module level.
- Year of experience of schematics design, prefer to have the PCB layout experience.
- Good understanding of the e-beam system is a plus.

- Years of experience and knowledge with general electrical engineering.
- Solid knowledge about SEMI safety standard vs. EMI/EMC

The California base annual salary/hourly range for this role is currently $134,625.00 - $224,375.00. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
