Job Mission
The China Technical Accounting & Advisory Manager will be accountable for accurate accounting & reporting of financial transactions of the ASML Group companies in China in line with applicable US GAAP, IFRS and China Local GAAP regulations. Providing advice to internal stakeholders (i.e. local business, local management, ASML Financial Services Teams as well as the central Accounting & External Reporting group located in the Netherlands) and collaboration to implement guidance is essential to ensure compliant accounting.

The role requires close collaboration with internal business stakeholders , other local Advisory Experts of Tax, Treasury and Legal as well as managing external relations with local auditing & consulting firms.

Job description
As a China Technical Accounting & Advisory Manager you stay on top of developments in the local China Accounting & Reporting landscape which developments you translate into guidance & requirements for the China Finance organization. Additionally, you support business decisions by providing pro-active Accounting & Reporting advice to local stakeholders as well as to the central Accounting & External Reporting Expert group.All, to ensure compliance and facilitate deep-expertise knowledge growth through the ASML organization.

As a Technical Accounting & Advisory Manager you will operate in a matrix organization, being part of the global ASML Expert & Advisory organization in which you will work closely together with Expertsfrom Accounting, Tax, Treasury & Legal, but also with the local ASML Financial Services teams and Business Controllers. Primary focus is to ensure compliancy of all financial transactions with US GAAP, IFRS and Local GAAP regulations. You are expected to continuously monitor developments in Accounting & Reporting Landscape (both on the traditional accounting regulations as well as new aspects as ESG reporting, Public Country by Country Reporting etc.), and to support continuous improvements in the accounting and control processes to support the growth of ASML:

Expectation is that majority of your time will be utilized on performing technical accounting analysis to support business decisions and to collaborate with the ASML Finance organization.The preparation of the annual statutory reports is driven by local ASML Financial Services Teams with support from the Technical Accounting & Advisory Manager to jointly ensure compliance with local regulations.

Your responsibilities are as follows:

Financial Reporting
Participate in dialogue with internal stakeholders to define accounting implications (US GAAP / IFRS / Local GAAP) on business transactions / developments. Support business decisions and provide direction toward desired outcomes within the bounds of applicable accounting and financial reporting standards.
Provide (pro-active) advice to local business control and local management on US GAAP / IFRS and Local GAAP/statutory implications/developments to support business decisions as well as to ensure ultimate compliance in financial reporting;
Provide guidance and requirements to the local GES Financial Services Teams to implement aspects of new/updated legislation;
Align with / provide input to the central Accounting & External Reporting Expert group (The Netherlands) on questions raised by stakeholders to ensure proper accounting of transactions for periodic group reporting;
Ensure compliance of statutory financial reporting for legal entities in China with applicable local GAAP regulations;
Prepare position papers to support significant accounting policies for the legal entities in China;
Maintain local accounting manual that highlights statutory accounting (policy) differences versus US GAAP/ IFRS; Assess and ensure appropriate support documentation of differences with US GAAP / IFRS
Render support to the ASML Financial Services teams in statutory audit procedures performed by local external auditor;
Support to enhance the controls around the statutory reporting process of the China legal entities;


Business stakeholder
Provide pro-active advice to local business partners in the area of accounting to support business decisions;
Create & enhance local awareness of ASML Financial Reporting & compliance landscape;
Provide guidance & training to local business stakeholders on new developments to ensure & maintain required basic knowledge levels;


Education/Experience:
China/US CPA qualified with minimum 10-12 years’ audit experience in Big 4 or equivalent accounting experience in an international business environment.
Strong knowledge of / experience with applicable accounting rules in relation to US GAAP / IFRS / Local GAAP and understanding of related processes;
Experience in translating technical accounting guidance into practical advice and solutions for business stakeholders.
Fluent in written & spoken English; native Mandarin

Personal skills:
Ability to collaborate with various other ASML departments with different background and knowledge level in order to safeguard financial reporting & compliance aspects of the China group entities;
Ability to collaborate with Experts/Peers of other Experts groups (Tax, Treasury, Legal) in order to provide integrated advice to business stakeholders;
Strong desire to understand the products and business operations of ASML to ensure a holistic understanding of their work and stakeholder needs;
Ability to build relationships with colleagues in other regions (Asia / Europe / US) and non-financial departments.
