Introduction to the job

The EHS Specialist D&E is working in a high technically dynamic work environment where safety is a key driver in the daily operations. The EHS Specialist is expected in this volatile environment to maintain a safe and healthy workplace as a priority.
One of the tasks will be to assist the D&E organization (around 12.000 employees) on EHS topics like incidents, safety moments, proactive EHS support.

The Development & Engineering (D&E) Safety department is responsible for supporting product safety and Occupational Health & Safety (EHS) at D&E. D&E is responsible for process and product development within ASML. The mission of the D&E safety is to enable safe working conditions & safe/compliant product/tool designs. As EHS within the D&E community we are supporting the departments to implement safe working environment. For EHS related topics our goal is to be the trusted business partner for the D&E community.

Role and responsibilities

The Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist provides expertise in operational safety and ensures proper incident (near miss) management. He or she is responsible for follow up on incidents and near misses within D&E, conducting trend analysis and hand-on support for our proto engineering cluster. Besides incident management the EHS Specialist is responsible for assessing changes and the impact on new EHS legislation. To cope with changes Job safety analysis and Permit to work are frequently used tools.
The EHS Specialist works in a team with experts who are responsible for the Operational safety (risk assessments), safety awareness program and learning from near misses and incidents within D&E and research area of ASML. With the rapidly growing and fast changing landscape within ASML the EHS Specialist needs to adapt continuously, work independent, has a good verbal communication in English and Dutch language.
Project based working is an important part of the job to structure the EHS work processes.

  • 30% shop floor operations, 30% (technical) consultancy, and 40% office & meetings.
  • Conduct incident and near miss investigation and trend analysis on a regulatory basis.
  • Can work project based.
  • Facilitates Risk assessments (e.g. Job Safety Analysis, RIE, permit to Work) within the D&E clusters.
  • Check and act upon changes in EHS legislation.
  • Support on ASML’s Safety awareness program
  • Is able to constructively present & communicate safety issues with employees on PhD level.

Education and experience

  • Practical safety education such as HVK/MVK or similar.
  • Root cause analysis as part of incident investigation.
  • Preferable experience on behavior based safety programs.
  • Technical experience on machine safety is preferable.
  • Root cause analysis, incident investigation.
  • Knowledge of the Dutch Working conditions Act (Arbowet).
  • Risk assessment & classification techniques.
  • Project management.
