Introduction to the job
Under guidance of senior engineers, performs integration activates including trouble shooting the automation and control software, designing and executing test plans, to ensure the system functions as designed in the EUV light source.Design and integration engineer specializes in automation and control subsystems realized via C/C++, Simulink, and/or StateFlow implementation, capable of applying classroom learning to practical problem solving. Develops automation and control system and its realization in software for the droplet generation and steering functions.The role will include all aspects of the product development lifecycle – planning, requirements, design, code, test and maintenance.
This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA.It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation. A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week).
Role and responsibilities
- Performs thedesign, development, and implementation of algorithms involving systemstate management (StateFlow) or controller design (C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink)for droplet generator, its steering system, and other equipment used inthe semiconductor industry.
- Generateshardware and software requirement specifications for automation andcontrol algorithm implementation in software.
- Designs andexecute test plans for design study and validation.
- Designs andbuilds software tools that allow debugging, analysis and performanceevaluation of algorithms.
- Determinesthe root cause for software failure in products in the manufacturingfactory and in fielded units.
- Participatesin the development and integration of innovative automation and controlsoftware and hardware solutions to enable stable and efficient productionof droplets.
- Appliesbroad knowledge in sensors, actuators, control algorithms, software, anddata analysis tools to drive automation and control software improvementsto enable continuously improved droplet stability and dropletgeneration availability.
- Designs andbuilds software tools that allow debugging, analysis, and performanceevaluation of automation and control systemperformance.Performs root cause analysis for system failuresin products for integration and fielded units during escalations.
- Documentswork results with system requirements, design specifications, procedures,and training materials.
- Travels tocustomer sites to perform upgrades, troubleshooting and repair of systems.
Education and experience
- Requiresminimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer or mechanicalengineering, Computer Science, or other related fields and 0-2 years ofexperience.
- Experiencewith MATLAB/Simulink/StateFlow.
- Working knowledgeof Python and C/C++.
- Understandingof embedded software systems a plus.
- Capable ofdesigning and implementing practical feedback control and automation statemanagement systems of moderate complexity.
- Knowledge ofcontrol theory and finite state machine.
- Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly explaintechnical issues and ideas to peers and management.
- Wellingto participating in customer service activities, and building customerrelationship.

Other information
The California base annual salary/hourly range for this role is currently $103,000 - $173,125. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
