Introduction
Are you a student with a background in Software Engineering or Computer Science? Do you have knowledge on design patterns and interface design? Then this internship could be interesting for you!
Background information
The EUV Projection software group is responsible for the software of the projection subsystem that makes images of reticle patterns on the wafer with nanometer accuracy. The projection software performs complex mirror positioning and thermal control to accomplish this.
The thermal control parameters are calibrated with an application. This application uses another subsystem through a legacy-interface that exposes implementation details of that subsystem. Unfortunately, those implementation details have actually been used in our code. Additionally, this legacy-interface contains more features than required for our calibration. The dependency on this legacy-interface needs to be resolved in order for both subsystems to be able to evolve independently.
Your assignment
Tasks: Analyze the real needs of our calibration and define a better (more abstract & future proof) interface with the other subsystem. Adapt our application code to use this new interface(s) and create an adapter that translates the new to the old interface.
Results: a well-defined interface and decoupled code.
Your profile
To be the perfect match for the internship, you:
- Are a student in Computer Science, Software Engineering or any related field;
- Have experience with design patterns and interface design;
- Have experience with Python, Matlab and Linux;
- Are creative, curious, goal oriented and capable of working independently;
This is a bachelor apprentice internship lasting 3+ months, 5 days per week starting in September 2023.
