Introduction
Do you have a background in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science? Do you have good analytical skills and an interest in electrical waves and signals? Then this internship might be interesting for you!
Background information
Our department has a 192-channel data logger that would like to use in the future to measure a number of AC power signals (voltage, current, frequency, power factor) collected within the same time frame. Due to the large amount of time-based data on all channels, we need algorithms designed to mine the important information from the data. The algorithms should report information from each channel that satisfy the needs of our test reports.
Your assignment
The intern shall be given the task of developing algorithms to mine data produced by the 192 channel data logger. The path of development is as such:
- Understand structure of data sets and the fundamental algorithms used to mine power data. The intern will become familiar with the components of our reports and how the algorithms can be used with the data to reach the objective.
- A platform will be chosen and documentation describing the functions of the algorithms will be developed.
- Coding of the algorithm and development of relevant documentation.
- Testing of the coded algorithm on various data sets. Refinement and review of documentation.
- Presentation of algorithm performance and knowledge transfer to the ASML engineering team.
Your profile
A suitable candidate would have the following:
- Educational background in mathematics, computer science, electrical or mechanical engineering
- Computer programming in MATLAB and/or Python.
- Understanding of electrical waves and signals.
- An understanding of Git, code control principles and good code organization.
- Experience working with big data or large data sets.
- Good personal organization and ability to work on their own.
This is a master/bachelor`s project that could be both an apprentice or graduation internship. The team is looking for a candidate ideally starting from August for 5-6 months 5 days a week.
Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a university for the entire duration of the internship.
This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations.
