The Senior EH&S Specialist assists in the development and implementation of Environmental Health and Safety programs to address government regulations/standards, fully addressing their implications on the facility. Develops, presents, and ensures the completion of any employee training in Environmental Health and Safety policy and procedures. Researches industry “Best-Practices” to ensure world class leadership in EHS.Performs risk assessments and recommends corrective actions in R&D and Manufacturing environments. Ensures a thorough investigation of incidents. Uses knowledge to develop solutions and engage resources to implement improvements to Environmental Health and Safety issues/challenges.
This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Role and responsibilities
- Improve EHS workplaceperformance by promoting an incident-free work place, identifying andmitigating EHS risk and implementing safety and environmental managementsystems in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies andstandards.
- Communicates all findings,concerns, and deficiencies to the responsible managers to effect timelyand necessary corrections.
- Develops and implements strategicsolutions that will support management's efforts to improve and maintaincompliance as required.
- Performs duties related tothe hazard identification and control process, safe work planning,inspection and assessment, incident investigation, hazardousmaterials/waste management, emergency preparedness, fire/life safety,ergonomics, industrial hygiene, training, safe work procedure development,and regulatory compliance recordkeeping and documentation.
- Identifies opportunitiesto reduce costs while enhancing quality of services.
- Conduct necessary safetytrainings for employees and ensure compliance and understanding.
- Guide and directdepartments toward compliance with local, state and federal safety andenvironmental regulations, and corporate compliance polices.
- Facilitate and engagebusiness unit teams and team members to drive projects that will lead toreductions in accidents, energy use, and waste minimization.
- Ensure timely submittal ofrequired state, federal and/or local environmental and safety regulatoryreports.
- Participate and leadSafety Committees and team meetings.
- Conduct inspections andaudits throughout the entire manufacturing facility to identify existingor potential hazards and determine corrective or preventative measures.
- Assist in incidentinvestigations and problem solving.
- Maintain thoroughknowledge of federal, state and local OSHA regulations, safety codes andenvironmental quality regulations.
- Conduct both safety andenvironmental audits and inspections.
- Write and own EHSprograms.
- Conduct ergonomicsevaluations, prepares associated documentation and provides employeeworkstation ergonomic recommendations.
- Decisions madewith in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, companypolicies and business practices to achieve general results.
- Support incidentmanagement and follow all required protocols.
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience with a strong competence with the various tools and procedures used to accomplish the job.
- Knowledge/experience with working in a manufacturing environment preferred. Semiconductor industry a plus.
- Demonstrate knowledge of 29 CFR 1910, Title 8 Cal/Osha General Industry and local health and safety, and environmental regulations is required.
- Knowledge ofISO Standards (ISO 14001) preferred, ISO 45001beneficial but not required.
- Certificates and/or Licenses: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) – Beneficial but not required.

The California base annual salary / hourly range for this role is currently $72,750- $121,250. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
