Information Systems Internship: Develop a competence framework

Introduction

Are you a master student with educational background in information systems, industrial engineering and business process modelling? Do you have an affinity with learning and knowledge management? Then, this internship could be interesting for you!

Background information

This assignment is of interest to the Customer Support(CS) organization within ASML. The main goal of CS is to maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot ASML lithography systems in customer fabs. In order to do this, ASML has +/- 52 field offices worldwide and employs more than 4000 field service engineers (FSEs). Due to their rapid growth, every year ASML has to educate many new engineers. This means that good knowledge management is crucial for ASML.

Your assignment

Your assignment is to help us develop a (or part of) conceptual framework for understanding engineer competences in the area of customer field support. The Customer Support organization needs guidance in terms of identifying knowledge, skills, abilities and behavior crucial for an effective execution of service actions on ASML machines at customer sites. This could apply to a role, team, department or site.
For this assignment, we are specifically interested in finding out what available reference models from current research or practice are applicable and how can we tailor them to suit a local organization’s need. What can be learned from other engineering as well as non-engineering domain when it comes to measurements and creating clarity in terms of expectations for each role? What are the elements needed for such a framework? How can we apply the model to one of ASML’s needs?

Your profile

To be the perfect match for this internship you:

• Are a master student looking to do your graduation project;
• You have a background in business information systems, business process modelling or industrial engineering
• You have affinity with with learning and knowledge management;
• You are available for minimum 4days per week and for a duration of a minimum 5 months. The starting date is as soon as possible.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a university for the entire duration of the internship.
