Introduction to the job

ASML US, LP brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Wilton, CT, Chandler, AZ, San Jose, CA and San Diego, CA.

The Development and Engineering (D&E) sector is responsible for the development and validation of the ASML machines. Within this sector, the Mechanical Development department (MDEV) specializes in the definition, design, and execution of various modules within the overall lithography system. The Mechanical Architect plays a key role in defining, documenting, and enforcing that functional and system requirements are translated into practical, safe, manufacturable, serviceable and cost-effective designs.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

We are looking for an engineer with a Mechanical hardware and systems background to act in the role of Mechanical Architect for part of the EUV light source. In this role you will be responsible for defining mechanical requirements (structural, flow, thermal, etc..), cross functional interfaces, configuration strategy, and validation criteria for various EUV source modules. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a broad technical background, excellent communication skills, and ability to influence others. You will collaborate with other architects and design engineers in a multidiscipline project team to develop concepts, perform engineering analysis, support the build and test of prototypes, give direction in the generation of detail CAD designs and engineering drawings, and partner with suppliers and product integration to test towards successful product launch.
