Job Mission
This opening - Principal Research Engineer-Electron Optics, will play a key role in electron optics system concept design for next generation e-beam metrology and inspection systems, and also take a critical responsibility to develop new critical technology and key module according to company’s electron beam technology and product roadmap.
This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Role and responsibilities
Job Description
- Generate new electron optical design concept of electron optics system for next generation e-beam metrology and inspection systems.
- Simulate electron optical properties and performances of electron optics systems, and optimize design to meet system performance requirements. This includes simulation of electron source and electron optics column. Make detailed simulation and design reports.
- Define requirements for electronic modules controlling the electron optics system based on simulation.
- Design control methods and algorithms for electron optical components.
- Evaluate electronic and mechanical tolerance of electron optics system.
- Develop new ideas to overcome design bottlenecks limiting the electron optical performance of the system.
- Design experiments for evaluating electron optics performance in system platform. Analyze data and characterize resolution, probe current, distortion, and other optical characteristics.
- Provide input to system specification, system error budget and interfaces.
- Assemble and test electron optics sub-modules, and integrate the sub-modules into the full system.
- Perform basic performance test on test bench, and write test reports.

Education and experience
Ph D with 8+ years of relevant work experience.
·Minimum qualifications – the hired candidate must possess all of the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for the position including:
o8+ of Years of relevant experience
oPhysics, Applied Physics or Electrical Engineering background
o3+ years’ experience on designing, operating electron microscope
o1 to 2 years’ experience with mechanical design tools (i.e. Solidworks, NX, etc.)
oStrong English communication skills – both written and oral, ability to influence, stakeholder management, etc.
oproject management skill are preferred.

The California base annual salary/hourly range for this role is currently $162,775.00 - $220,225.00. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
