Job mission:
Managing potential Indirect tax risk compliance and exposure is becoming more and more crucial and has increased board attention. Compliance is therefore considered to be one of the core values within ASML. The job mission of the Indirect Tax Manager is to execute and ensure Indirect Tax compliance with a strategical and tactical focus, while pro-actively supporting ASML and its business partners in the various jurisdictions.
Also, an important part of this role is to drive the Indirect Tax technology roadmap. ASML strives to use technology as a driver to realize a fully automated and future proof (compliance) process. With technology, you can think of an Indirect Tax code determination engine, an indirect tax compliance tool, a data-analytics tool, continuous monitoring, etc.
Role and responsibilities
You will be responsible for the EMEA region.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Driving the Indirect Tax technology roadmap and support upon the selection and implementation of tax technology tools
- Managing Indirect Tax Control Framework for EMEA (monitoring, testing, reviewing controls)
- Improving Indirect Tax data quality and processes where Indirect Taxes are involved
- Support EMEA Tax Accounting team with Indirect Tax knowledge
- Managing ASML’s Indirect Tax risks in the EMEA region
- Ensure the management and completion of various tax projects and ensure project deliverables are completed timely, within scope and within budget;
- Coordinating Indirect Tax audits within EMEA
- Provide training/share insights and Indirect Tax knowledge with others
- Providing business support by answering ad hoc Indirect Tax questions
- Pro-actively advice and support ASML’s management on Indirect tax aspects of business decisions and further increase the value add of the team
- Together with the other colleagues of the Indirect Tax team, co-develop, maintain, implement and improve policies and guidelines to manage Indirect Tax risks and compliance within ASML
- Stimulate and establish good working relationships at different levels with relevant government agencies (e.g. Tax and Statistical authorities) Stimulate and establish good working relationships at different levels with relevant government agencies (e.g. Tax and Statistical authorities)
Education and experience
You have an Academic background (MSc) or similar working experience with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience in Indirect Tax within a multinational, law firm or a consulting company. In-depth knowledge and experience with EU Indirect Tax regulation is a prerequisite. You are a team player and you have experience working in a multidisciplinary environment and in multi-cultural teams. You have affinity and experience with understanding end-to-end processes in order to further optimize and improve these processes. Experience with OneSource (or similar Tax engines), SAP, Ariba, Alteryx (or similar data-analytics tools), continuous monitoring tools is a (big) pre.

Position in the Organization
Currently the ASML Tax & Customs Team (T&C) includes 50 tax professionals (and growing) located in the Netherlands based HQ, the regional offices in Asia (Korea, Taiwan and China) and the US. ASML’s T&C Team is responsible for the tax and customs affairs in all jurisdictions where ASML operates.
ASML’s Corporate Tax & Customs Team (T&C) reports to the Finance Organization, where T&C is part of the Expert & Advisory area. Together with Treasury, Accounting and Legal, T&C team provides integrated advice to the ASML business and stakeholders. Being part of the tax and customs team, you’ll face demanding challenges, in a fast paced dynamic environment at the hearth of the semiconductor business.
Position of this role
In your role as Indirect Tax Manager you are part of the Indirect Tax expertise team within the T&C team. You will be located at the ASML headquarters in Veldhoven and will report to the Lead Indirect Taxes.
