Introduction – Job Mission
Within the EUV source team in San Diego, the Droplet Generation Function creates a steady stream of micron-scale droplets of molten tin injected into a vacuum vessel at a rate of tens of thousands per second, which generate EUV light when hit by infrared laser pulses. The functional team is fully responsible for development of the droplet generator, for integration and functional testing of the modules and sub-components, and for overall integration of the module within the system.
The complexity of the droplet generation requirements and the associated need for experimental studies put exciting and challenging demands on the Droplet Generation Intern, who will be working in a small tight-knit collaborative lab running multiple test benches. Ideal candidates will be incredibly organized, have a knowledge of test and diagnostic equipment operation, and have a genuine desire for developing new skills and learning new technology.
This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Job Description
- Work in a team of engineers and technicians in the Droplet Generation Test Lab.
- Execute tests utilizing data acquisition, measurement and control systems.
- Analyze experimental data and report findings in written and oral form, delivering a summary presentation at the end of internship project
·Specific tasks will be tailored to match the education / experience level and the learning objectives.
Education and Experience
- Studying towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics or Material Science.
- Hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment
- Strong analytical skills using MATLAB or Python
- Possess strong ownership characteristics and commitment to achieving results on time
- Have strong written and oral communicative skills
- Have strong problem solving skills and the ability to take initiative
- Be willing to be “wrong” at times and be open to the ideas of others

The California base annual salary / hourly range for this role is currently $19.80 - $53 per hour. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
