Introduction

Are you a student in Information Management, Business Informatics or something IT related? Are you interested to set-up an information strategy? Then this assignment could be interesting for you!

Background information

The IT Solution Delivery Analytics department of ASML is creating data sets, reports and analytical, machine learning and AI solutions for all the sectors within ASML. With a group of around 550 IT developers, scrum masters, release train engineers and other roles, we also create a lot of information that we currently (mainly) store in Atlassian Confluence. We strive to improve our documentation strategy and store the needed information in a limited but complete way in one single place. We created a documentation strategy around 5 years ago and moved the information step by step. We are currently migrating the last set of documents. That also gives us the time to reflect on our strategy and see if this is still successful. We also see lots of potential to improve this.

Your assignment

The information strategy we created and implemented 5 years ago, was focusing on moving the scattered documentation and information to one single place (Atlassian Confluence). We are moving the last large batch of documents these months. One of the challenges we are now facing is to make everything searchable and see if the structure is the correct one. But we also want to reassess the strategy and see if this is still valid.

Part of your assignment is to define this strategy, which includes answering the following questions:

  • Is all documentation migrated correctly? Do we still miss topics?
  • How is the documentation used? Are there teams that document more than others? How can we improve the documentation?
  • Do we use the templates enough, are improvements required?
  • Can we use AI to create documents for coding? Or are there other ways to reduce the time spent on documentation, without loosing important information?
  • Do we label all our documentation the right way? Are there ways to make this mandatory in Confluence Cloud?
  • Is our current documentation and information strategy still valid, or do we need to renew the strategy? How can we properly roll it out?

During this internship you will learn how to tackle large problems in an enterprise environment, how to transfer requirements to a matching solution and work in an agile (SAFe/Scrum) team.

Your profile

To be the perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Are a bachelor or master student in Information Management, Business Informatics, or something IT related;
  • Are looking for a graduation assignment;
  • Have knowledge of setting up an information strategy and the ability to improve the tool itself;
  • Possess great stakeholder management skills.

This is a graduation project for minimum 5 months, for 4 to 5 days per week. The start date is as of September 2023.

We can only proceed with applicants enrolled as student at an educational institute during the entire internship duration.

Other information

Change the world – one nanometer at a time
Become an intern at a Dutch company that’s a global industry leader. You’ll gain valuable experience in a highly innovative environment – one that sparks your imagination and creativity. In addition to a monthly internship allowance of maximum €600 (plus a possible housing and/or travel coverage), you’ll get practical guidance from experts in the field and the chance to work in and experience a dynamic team environment.

ASML: be part of progress
ASML is a high-tech company headquartered in the Netherlands. We manufacture the complex lithography machines that chipmakers use to produce integrated circuits, or computer chips. What we do is at the heart of all the electronic devices that keep us informed, entertained and connected. Every day, you use electronics that simply wouldn’t exist without our machines.

Behind ASML’s innovations are engineers who think ahead. The people who work at our company include some of the most creative minds in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, chemistry, mechatronics, optics, mechanical engineering, and computer science and software engineering.

We believe we can always do better. We believe the winning idea can come from anyone. We love what we do – not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.

Students: getting ready for real-world R&D
We’re a global team of about 29,000 people of 120 different nationalities and counting. Headquartered in Europe’s top tech hub, the Brainport Eindhoven region in the Netherlands, our operations are spread across Europe, Asia and the US.

In such an environment, your colleagues may be sitting next door, or they could be thousands of kilometers away in a different country – or even working for a different company.

An internship at ASML is the opportunity to get to know not only the world of industrial-strength R&D, but yourself – you’ll discover just what excites you most. Will you design a part of the machine, or make sure it gets built to the tightest possible specifications? Will you write software that drives the system to its best performance, or work side-by-side with the engineers of our customers in a fab, optimizing a system to the requirements of the customer?

How will you be part of progress?
